Mother’s Day Ikebana/Japanese Flower Arrangement Class Saturday, May 10, 2025 2:00 PM– 3:30 PM Instructor: Irene Gomulka Let’s have some fun with Ikebana and make a unique Ikebana floral arrangement for Mother’s Day for yourself or to give as a gift. Ikebana is a national Japanese treasure, which is over 500 years old. Irene will share the history of Ikebana and also show the traditional tools used for creating Ikebana arrangements. A glass vase and plant materials will be provided. Please bring scissors to use in this class. Class size is limited and registration must be completed by May 5th 2025 at 1:00pm. Registration includes admission to the beautiful gardens before or after class. In this workshop, Bomb Blooms teaches the foundations of flower and leaf pressing to capture beautifully dried botanicals. Pamela shares her tips for creating finished works of art with bundled composition and style, set inside a floating glass frame you can either hang on a wall, window or even display on a shelf or mantle. Flower pressing is an age-old art that at its heart can become a memory keeping craft to time capsule important events such as engagements, anniversaries, weddings, baby showers and even funerals. With your new acquired skill, you can preserve florals from an abundant garden harvest or press leaves after a day frolicking through a beautiful meadow of bountiful wildflowers. Pressed florals make lovely, framed art or special gifts for family and friends. We are so excited to have you join us for this project as we dive into the art of flower and leaf pressing. Local artist Natalie Brooks will guide you step by step as we create layers of wildflowers using the “negative space” technique. After this encouraging class you’ll have beautiful artwork ready to frame and skills to explore watercolor in a whole new way! All supplies are included in your session fee. Registration includes admission to the beautiful gardens before or after class. With over a decade of experience in watercolor, Natalie Brooks Dourte shares her love of nature through painting. Born and raised in Florida, her imagination has been captured by the coasts and the lush world between. Her work is a rhythm of breathing in nature and exhaling with paint, honoring her source of inspiration, and inviting others to join her in the practice of wonder. Natalie is a member of both the Florida Watercolor Society and Central Florida Watercolor Society, and graduated fellow of Arts Fellowship Orlando. Participants must withdraw from classes at least 5 days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit.
