Join the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) every Thursday evening for enlightening talks with local and visiting artists. On Thursday, September 21, Maureen Drennan and Sara Macel will be featured at the "Meet the Artist" event at CPW in Kingston, New York. Drennan will showcase her project and book, "Meet Me in the Green Glen," a captivating photographic exploration of a secluded marijuana grower in California. Over the course of nine years, Drennan documented this reclusive individual as the laws and perceptions surrounding marijuana cultivation underwent significant transformations in the state. Macel will present her latest body of work, "What Did the Deep Sea Say," which combines contemporary color film images with family black-and-white photographs to weave a narrative about women from different generations in her own family. Macel will also share rarely seen book dummies from her projects and delve into the process of uncovering universal themes within deeply personal work and translating them into photobooks. Books by both artists will be available for purchase. The event offers the opportunity for the public to engage with new art, gain insights into the artistic process, and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. The event is free and open to the public, taking place at CPW's gallery on 474 Broadway in Kingston. Coffee, tea, and snacks will be served.
