Golf
Registration at 12:00 Shot Gun Start at 1:00 Dinner at 5:00/5:30 depending on golf ending. Come get a drink at the clubhouse before! The mission of the Wedge Bramhall memorial fund is to raise money for graduating high school students. Wedge had a passion for clean energy, agriculture, but most importantly he loved his community. We are now a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, 100% of the profits from the tournament will go towards scholarships for students entering college in the sustainable energy field. We hope that giving back to the students who share Wedge’s passion will keep his name and legacy alive for years to come. Wedge grew up in Plymouth, MA in the heart of Chiltonville with his family raising sheep, cows and learning the ropes of running the Country Store from his mom and dad. Wedge was a wild one growing up. When he graduated from high school and didn't get picked for the draft - him and his buddies converted an old school bus and went on a cross country trip in "The Magic Bus". He moved to Hawaii for a few years.. homeless.. sleeping in dugouts at night and catching Yellowfin Tuna during the day. On his trip back to go get his dog and move there... he met Jami. He retired from his crazy lifestyle to marry his soulmate and have 4 kids. Ben, Sam, Sally and Liz... Who made his life a different kind of crazy. Wedge was a jack of all trades providing for his family. He was a real estate agent, a lobsterman, ran the family store, ran the family garden and snow plowed in the winter. Even with all of that, his favorite job was being a dad. He was at every single game, out in the yard with his glove every night playing catch, front and center taking pictures of every pitch, every race, every dirt bike trick. He taught the kids how to work at the store, run the garden, re-shingle the horse barn, mow the lawn, bait a hook, and many more life lessons. He loved photography, being involved in the community, his family history, sunflowers, fishing, clamming, beach walks, kayaking, watching the sunset, a game of darts, Harpoon IPA, Milagro Tequila, and spending time with family. In August of 2013 Wedge was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This disease came on extremely strong and the doctors said he only had a couple months left to live. Knowing Wedge, he knew that was a challenge he was going to overcome. Wedge went through that whole winter snow plowing. He plowed every storm...after chemo... 4 months past the date his doctors gave him.. knowing he didn't want to "disappoint the people who were relying on him". After the toughest fight the disease has probably ever seen, he lost his battle in April of 2014. When Wedge was sick, Sal and Ben stopped everything in their life to take over the store. They've been working the past few years fine tuning the store, continuously progressing Wedge's vision of a community meeting place, a great meal, a friendly smile and HISTORY. Pure Plymouth History. Sammy!!! The entrepreneur. The neighborhoods favorite electrician. Sam took a different route.. but still to Wedge's legacy: doing it his own way, making his own path. Serving his family and community everyday. Wedge guided him to Glynn Electric where he learned so much that he was able to go out on his own to do what he loves. Dad would be so proud! And Liz! (Me). My dad loved clean energy all of his life. Always trying to find new, innovative ways to power his beach house, home and the store. One day when I was in high school he said I should go to Mass Maritime to do a new clean energy major - Energy Systems Engineering. I laughed... it was military and all my friends wanted to go to UMass. I went on the tour with him and later that day applied for early acceptance. He passed before he could see me there, but he was always my motivation. I've been working for a clean energy company for 5 years now and am so grateful for his influence. To honor his memory, we started this tournament to get his friends, family, community and loved ones together. A day to remember Wedge and the impact he had on so many people. We welcome you to come join us to celebrate this incredible life! Maybe you'll be lucky enough to get a magic bus story from one of his buddies..... This workshop is appropriate for women approaching or in their wise years. We will introduce two magical and mystical Greek goddesses, Hestia and Hecate, who, although present in the earlier life of women may be more easily experienced in mid to later life. Having had some experience of the joys and sorrow of life, the intuitive wisdom offered by these goddess archetypes is more readily recognised and received by those with a few years under their belts. Goddess archetypes offer us useful and evocative ways to understand and illuminate the inner working of the feminine psyche. To know our inner aspects and patterning can bring greater self-awareness and understanding of how to work positively with these archetypal energies We will offer meditations to connect with these rich archetypes and space to share our experiences. Please note, National Trust car parking charges apply at Wembury Beach car park. The car park can fill up very quickly on hot, sunny days so please leave plenty of time to park and aim to arrive at the Marine Centre 10mins before the event starts. Cancellation Policy – refunds will be issued up to 1 day before the event starts, minus the Eventbrite booking fee. If the event is cancelled by us due to poor weather, you will receive a full refund. Important Accessibility Information The event takes place on Wembury beach and the surrounding rocky foreshore. There are steep unguarded edges along the coast. You should expect to be walking over slippery, seaweed-covered rocks, steep paths, sand, and other uneven ground. Please dress appropriately – be prepared for unpredictable weather and remember that rocks can be sharp so wearing thick-soled footwear with good grips is essential. We will be out for up to 2 hours; therefore, conditions can change and be different out on the shore than inland. There is accessible parking at the National Trust Wembury Beach car park, but no wheelchair access to the beach. There in an accessible toilet inside the Marine Centre, but the group will be a 20-minute walk away from these during the event. Dogs are not allowed on the beach between 1st May to 30th September though assistance dogs are allowed all year round. We welcome attendees with an interest in finding out more about local marine life and are keen to learn or improve their identification and rockpooling skills. Instruction is provided verbally by a group leader in English within an outdoor setting where there may be background noise. Printed copies of some information can be made available with advance notice. The event takes place in a popular public place but is not usually crowded once we start rockpooling. Flash photography may be used by staff and participants but is not usually noticeable in daylight. Noise cancelling ear muffs can only be used if the attendee has someone with them who is able to listen and interpret the instructions for them.
