Experience the art of creating unique and captivating spinner rings at the SPINNER RING WORKSHOP in Exeter. This workshop, held at Exeter Fine Crafts on December 9th, offers an opportunity to put a fresh spin on an ordinary ring and craft something truly special.
During this hands-on workshop, participants will learn various jewelry making techniques such as soldering, forming, and hammering. With provided copper and studio tools, attendees will create two separate ring bands, one wider than the other. These bands will then be fabricated together, allowing the thinner band to move freely over the wider band, resulting in a playful and eye-catching design.
To ensure a seamless registration process, participants can choose between online registration or contacting Exeter Fine Crafts directly. Tuition is required and can be paid via a tuition check made payable to Exeter Fine Crafts. Please note that separate tuition checks are necessary for each class or workshop.

This will be followed by a group discussion that delves into the intersection of image generation, art, and the artist's role.
At 11:30 am, contemporary artist Theo Ellison will deliver an online presentation, offering valuable insights into their artistic journey. The practical workshop, scheduled from 12 pm to 1 pm, will encourage participants to employ tools like Mid-Journey and Dali to generate a series of AI-created images, drawing inspiration from their scientific and artistic research. These images will then be further developed through the mediums of drawing, painting, and collage.
A lunch break, courtesy of CDT in Environmental Intelligence, will take place from 1 pm to 1:30 pm. Following this, the practical workshop will resume from 1:30 pm to 3 pm, enabling participants to refine their AI-generated images through collaborative efforts. The day will culminate in a group crit and discussion from 3 pm to 4 pm, where all works produced throughout the workshop will be evaluated and analyzed.

The class will take place at the Cygnet Theatre, located at Friars' Gate in Exeter. The venue is just a short walk from the Quayside and offers free on-street parking after 6pm. If you prefer, there are also nearby carparks at Magdalen Road or the Cathedral & Quay multi-story.
During the session, participants will have the opportunity to draw from a model. The poses will range from quick 30-second sketches to longer 45-minute poses, allowing artists to explore different techniques and styles. There will be a short break in the middle of the session to refresh and recharge.
After the drawing session, there will be an hour of chat, drinks, and nibbles, providing a chance to socialize and connect with fellow artists. Participants are encouraged to bring any life drawing pieces they have created throughout the year to share with the group, although it is not mandatory.
To participate, simply arrive at the Cygnet Theatre by 6.55pm to set up and get ready to draw. The class will begin promptly at 7pm. Please note that if you arrive late, it may disrupt the class and entry may not be guaranteed.

From December 18th to 22nd, these two adventurers will pedal over 500km, towing a Christmas tree, to raise funds for The Millimetres 2 Mountains Foundation and a guest charity. This event marks Ed's first-ever multi-day, long-distance bike ride, making it a true challenge. And you're invited to be a part of it! Sign up for DAY 3 of the ride, happening on Wednesday, December 20th, 2023. Starting in Exeter and finishing in Burton Bradstock, this leg of the journey covers approximately 68km or 42 miles. Throughout the day, riders will experience breathtaking landscapes, with a total elevation of 3,550ft. Please note that this ride is open to experienced road cyclists only, who are equipped with appropriate winter kits and gear. Join us for a cosy evening filled with wintry, wordy enchantment as we showcase the talents of poetry and harp duo Chris Tutton and Anne Denholm. Anne Denholm, renowned as one of the leading British harpists of her generation, will grace us with her mesmerizing performances. As joint Principal Harp with the BBC Concert Orchestra, and the former Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales, her skills are truly exceptional. Additionally, we are thrilled to feature our young poetry prize winner, as well as other exciting support acts that will be announced soon.
But that's not all! We are also hosting the Young People's Poetry Prize, where local emerging poets have the opportunity to showcase their wintery wonderful poems. One lucky poet between the ages of 16 and 25 will be selected to perform on the night and will receive a £50 performance fee. There are also prizes available for two highly commended poems. Submissions can be in the form of a video, audio file, or written piece, as long as it does not exceed 20 lines or 3 minutes. The ONE DAY JEWELRY MAKING WORKSHOP at Exeter Fine Crafts in Exeter, NH is a perfect opportunity for anyone interested in learning the art of jewelry making. This workshop is designed to teach students how to create beautiful pieces of jewelry using copper, sterling sheet, and wire. Participants will have the chance to explore cutting shapes, filing, and surface texture techniques. Demonstrations will be provided, along with dedicated studio time to craft either a pendant or a pair of earrings. All necessary tools, supplies, and materials will be included, ensuring that everyone leaves with a finished piece of jewelry they can be proud of.
To register for the workshop, participants have the option to either call (603) 778-8282 or email info@exeterfinecrafts.com. Additionally, online registration is available on the Exeter Fine Crafts website at exeterfinecrafts.com/Courses.html, although an additional fee applies. Tuition must be paid in full to secure a spot in the workshop, and separate tuition checks are required for each class or workshop. Tuition checks should be made payable to Exeter Fine Crafts and mailed to 61 Water Street, Exeter, NH 03833.
Cancellation and refund policies are in place to accommodate unforeseen circumstances. Students who withdraw from the workshop at least 10 days before the first class can receive a refund, minus a $25 processing fee. In the event that Exeter Fine Crafts cancels the class or changes the date, a full refund will be given. Efforts will be made to notify students of any cancellations or date changes one week prior to the advertised start date. Severe weather will also be taken into consideration, with a make-up class scheduled if necessary.
