The participants will learn how their negotiation skills impact the organizations that they represent and their personality. The course also reflects the different types of outcomes that are achieved while negotiating and understanding which of these outcomes can be accepted and which one cannot be accepted. At last, but not least, the course also reflects on the influencing process and how things can be achieved without having the proper authority or power.
After a brief introduction each participant has 1 to 2 minutes to introduce themselves and put their presentation and communication skills in practice among the audience for the first time (if the intake has included the requested video, this introduction will only be 1 minute).
Each module has been carefully selected based on the intake and skills gaps of the specific audience. Each section includes the presentation of two modules, followed by a break. After the final reflection the class is dismissed.

GHANA TO THE WORLD: Eric Adjepong, Korsha Wilson, and Carla Hall | Bold Fork Books
May 22, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Washington D.C.
Join Bold Fork Books, authors Eric Adjepong and Korsha Wilson for an evening exploring GHANA TO THE WORLD: a transportive, highly personal cookbook of 100 West African-influenced recipes and stories from Top Chef finalist Eric Adjepong.
Moderator to be announced.
Please note: Due to high demand for this event and limited capacity, we will not be offering refunds.
ABOUT THE COOKBOOK
“Sankofa” is a Ghanaian Twi word that roughly translates to the idea that we must look back in order to move forward. In his moving debut cookbook, chef Eric Adjepong practices sankofa by showcasing the beauty and depth of West African food through the lens of his own culinary journey.
With 100 soul-satisfying recipes and narrative essays, Ghana to the World reflects Eric’s journey to understand his identity and unique culinary perspective as a first-generation Ghanaian American. The recipes in this book look forward and backward in time, balancing the traditional and the modern and exploring the lineage of West African cooking while embracing new elements. Eric includes traditional home-cooked meals from his mother, like a deeply flavorful jollof rice and a smoky, savory kontomire stew thick with leafy greens, alongside creative dishes influenced by his culinary education, like a sweet summer curried corn bisque and sticky tamarind-glazed duck legs.
Full of stunning photography shot in Ghana and remembrances rooted in family, tradition, and love, Ghana to the World shows readers how the unsung story of a continent’s cuisine can shine a powerful light on one person’s exploration of who he is as a chef and a man.

Thursday, May 22nd, 2025, 9:00–10:00 a.m. (CET)

In person at: R Street Institute, 9th floor, 1411 K St. NW Washington, DC
–––
For years now, both conservative and progressive think tanks have overused hyperbolic, “doomsday” framings in their communications. Now, amid generalized exhaustion with this tone, strategists are searching for a better story to tell.
Among the most compelling alternatives is the “abundance agenda” which offers an optimistic vision of a competent government that actually builds things and solves people’s problems.
It is clear that there is a growing public appetite for this shift, particularly among younger generations. However, while the idea resonates with many, translating it into broader communications strategies for think tanks remains a significant hurdle.
In our latest Wonkcomms Breakfast Club, Ted Gayer, President at The Niskanen Center, will draw on Niskanen's pioneering work on abundance to explore the question of what it takes to persuasively communicate and sell this agenda in the current environment.
He will be joined by Erica Schoder, Executive Director at R Street Institute who will describe how R-Street communicates about effective government, focusing in particular their concept of "credible optimism".
The scene will be set by Paul Constance, Writer and Consultant at Policy Metaphor and Sociopúblico, who will look at the challenges of promoting an abundance agenda and moving away from apocalyptic narrative in the current political context.
Coffee, croissants and comms—what could be a better start to your morning?

30th Anniversary Annual Gala & Awards Showcase | AutoShop
May 22, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Washington D.C.
Grab your flip phones, Lipsmackers, and disposable cameras! The America’s Future Annual Gala and Awards Showcase is an ode to our founding year – 1995!
Celebrate our 30th birthday on the ~*actual*~ date, May 22, 2025, with us at AutoShop at Union Market in Washington for a fantastic evening of fun, friends, fancy dress, and the induction of the newest members of the
1995 Society.
For more than two decades, the AF Annual Gala has allowed civic-minded change-makers and local leaders nationwide to come together to celebrate and look forward to another exciting year.
Dress your best for the red carpet and photo booth, enjoy the open bar (not to mention a VIP bar for special guests), mingle on the patio, get nostalgic with some 90’s arcade games, and before the night is over, kick off your shoes to tear up the dance floor!
Don’t miss your chance to clink glasses with fellow inspirational young leaders from across the country and celebrate an outstanding year of liberty! Check out photos from past Galas
