Tallah Brash is a journalist, DJ and curator from Edinburgh, with a background in venue programming, management and radio. She is the music editor for The Skinny. Elisabeth Elektra is a Glasgow-based pop polymath who delivers deeply melodic, poignant art-pop anthems and is a member of the Hen Hoose Collective. Elektra exists in the realm of post-genre, finding empowerment in the vulnerability of her lyrics and the fluency of her production. Last year, FieldARTS brought together a dozen artists and researchers for a week of collaborative fieldwork along the Clyde River Corridor, tracing the sedimentary, infrastructural, and colonial lineaments of a manufactured waterway once recognised as the workshop of empire, now refigured as an engine of energy transition. This screening programme — ‘river is an engine’ — presents archival films alongside moving-image and work-in-progress resulting from the residency and satellite projects. Featuring Alia Syed's Points of Departure (2014) and original work by Matthew Cosslett, Nile Davies, EXTENSE , Maria Howard, Pantea Armanfar, and Zsuzsanna Ihar. FieldARTS is a research residency programme exploring fieldwork and practice-based methods for studying environmental, hydrological, and infrastructural sites. At present, the residency is hosted by the Infrastructure Humanities Group. Tuesday 8th & 15th April
10am - 12pm An exciting opportunity at Creative Bloc for your child to explore and develop their own creative ideas through the medium of clay.
Students will enjoy learning new skills as they discover techniques to hand build wonderful clay projects. In the studio, we will use slab, coil and pinch pot sculpting methods to create unique ceramic masterpieces. These may be practical sculptures for the home (vases, bowls, cups etc) or creative sculptural artworks (inspired by the environment, self portraits, animals, nature & space). Students will be encouraged to explore and realise their own ideas in clay and be involved in all of the ceramic processes. No previous experience is required and all materials and firing costs are included in the course. Our recommended age for this class is 5-9yrs and we also have a class on Thursdays recommended for ages 10-14yrs. This is a guide only and we offer flexibility to attend whichever session a child feels more comfortable in.
After the course, all work will be fired in the studio and ready to collect in approx 2 weeks. -- The tutor: Megan Devlin (she/they) is a Glasgow based artist and ceramic instructor. PVG scheme member with many years experience working with young people. View their work on Instagram.

Welcome to the Open Mic at Glasgow Zine Library! Join us for a night of creativity and expression in the heart of Glasgow's Southside. Whether you're a seasoned performer or trying out the mic for the first time, this event is the perfect opportunity to share your voice and connect with fellow artists. For that reason, event capacity is limited to 20. We will limit open mic to 15 performers so that we can maintain a maximum 90 minute runtime with a 15 minute intermission as needed. All spaces in the Library are wheelchair accessible, with ground floor access and all rooms on one level. There is an accessible and gender neutral toilet, with baby changing facilities, available to the public. Our accessible toilet is fitted with a toilet alarm. The library space provides tea, coffee, water, a variety of lighting and seating options, dyslexia reading aids, toys for children, and comfort provisions like soft cushioning, hot water bottles, blankets and space heaters. We understand that people spending time in the library might need to rest for a number of reasons; if you need to lie down on any of our benches or recline in one of our chairs, please feel free to do so. Our staff will do what we can to make you more comfortable. All service dogs, and dogs in general, are welcome as long as they are on a lead. There is free parking on the street outside the Library, but unfortunately there isn’t a specific reserved space for visitors with mobility issues. Please note that Queens Park train station is currently not wheelchair accessible. The closest wheelchair accessible station is Mount Florida Station, which is about 0.7 mile (1.1 km) from the Library. There is level access from nearby bus stops on Victoria Road. We run a full programme of events and activities around the year which means the library can be busy at times. On any day that the library is open there will be a dedicated quiet space. Stim toys are also provided. If you are looking for a quieter day, we suggest getting in touch before visiting if you’d like to know if there’s anything on that day. 10am - 12pm An exciting opportunity at Creative Bloc for your child to explore and develop their own creative ideas through the medium of clay.

Oil Paint Making - Practical workshop Making your own paint gives you full control and liberty over the quality and characteristics of your painting materials, allowing you to create the artwork perfectly suited to your needs. In this class you will learn all you need to know to make your own oil paint, from the characteristics of different oils and pigments, to mixing them into a vibrant and durable paint. The class will cover: - What tools you will use and how do they work - How to choose the pigments, the oils and the additive ingredients - How to measure, mix and grind the materials together to make them into durable paint - How to identify and remedy flaws in the mixed paint - How to choose and make your oil paint mediums All the materials are provided: The pigments provided are white and black You can bring your own pigments if you wish to work on different colours The finished oil paints will be yours to keep, along with a medium of choice. This workshop is accessible to any level of experience and knowledge of the topic. The workshop will include explanations and demonstrations from the teacher, which you’ll then put into practice. Any question is encouraged and any knowledge and tips you want to share are welcomed. It is recommended to bring: - Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty - Pen and notepad to write the recipes and instructions for future reference (a pdf covering the topic will be sent via email after the workshop) Due to limitations of space and materials, a maximum of 5 people can attend each workshop. The workshop will be taking place at the second floor of the building. Please inform us if you need the lift to be made available. The cost of the workshop is £50. £5 is to secure a place given the limited availability. The difference is payable on the day of the course in cash, card or bank transfer.
