The Loring-Greenough House will celebrate the completion of our Native Plant Border at an unveiling in May. Join us to tour the garden, support the project by 'sponsoring' a plant, and learn about the benefits of Native Plants! The bed along the south-facing border contains a robust variety of plants that are native to the eastern half of the US, bringing color, visual interest, and seasonal changes to an existing plant bed. Mostly shade-loving, this mix of perennials and shrubs, along with evergreen trees for screening, will help the public identify and become more familiar with native plants that play an important ecological role in our community. Native plants are beneficial because they are low-maintenance, require less water, and provide habitat for birds and beneficial insects. Maybe the new bathroom has to wait while you have outdated electrical taken care of first. Should you repair the chimney or get the new furnace first? We will discuss how the systems relate to each other and consider the domino effect of your renovation and repair decisions. If you have a home inspection report, bring it with you.
