On the centenary of Sturtevant’s birth, this exhibition celebrates the work of the pioneering American artist, spanning over five decades. The exhibition centres around Sturtevant’s 1995 repetition of Félix González-Torres’s Untitled (Go-Go Dancing Platform) (1991), and retraces the evolution of her practice, from an early painting shown at her first exhibition in Europe in 1966, at Galerie J, Paris, to a significant video installation that manifests her later interest in the frenzy of fast-moving imagery that characterises our postmodern times. The works on view are brought together in commemoration of an artist whose groundbreaking practice continues to confront us with an audacious and provocative rethinking of art.

Mitterrand gallery presents its very first exhibition at 95 rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, History is round like the Earth by Chilean artist Roberto Matta. The exhibition brings together some thirty works - paintings, sculptures and drawings - covering each decade from the 1930s to the 1990s. An original text by American art historian Terri Geis will also be published for the occasion.

Dix années que l’association, co-fondée en 2014 par l’historienne de l’art Camille Morineau, travaille à rendre visibles les artistes femmes des XIXe et XXe siècles par différents moyens : un site Internet proposant plus de 1 100 textes biographiques gratuits et entièrement bilingues, rédigés par plus de 500 chercheur·euses, curateur·rices, historien·nes de l’art féministes, critiques d’art et activistes ; des colloques, tables-rondes et séminaires en partenariat avec différentes structures à l’international ; des publications régulières ; des prix récompensant des artistes femmes ; un centre de recherche et de documentation, mais aussi le développement de réseaux dans le monde entier. Cette année anniversaire sera rythmée au long de l’année par de nombreux événements en France et à l’étranger. « AWARE est un acronyme que j’ai envie, pour ce 10ème anniversaire, de décliner parfois autrement. Designed like a maze, the “Surrealism” exhibition is an unprecedented exploration of the extraordinary creativity of the Surrealist movement, which was born in 1924 with André Breton’s founding manifesto. Combining paintings, drawings, films, photographs and literary documents, the exhibition features works by the movement’s iconic artists (Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, Giorgio de Chirico, Max Ernst, Joan Miró) as well as works by female Surrealists including Leonora Carrington, Israel Colhoun and Dora Maar. Chronologically and thematically organized, the exhibition is divided into 14 sections that evoke the literary figures that inspired the movement (Lautreamont, Lewis Carroll, Sade, etc.) and the poetic principles that constitute its imagery (the artist as medium, the dream, the philosopher's stone, the forest, etc.). The heart of the exhibition is a central "drum" that houses the original manuscript of the Manifesto, an exceptional gift on loan from the Bibliothèque nationale de France. The discovery of this unique document is accompanied by multimedia screenings that offer an in-depth look at its creation and its significance.
