Puppet Clwb by Ren Wolfe + PWSH | Hypha Studios, 111 Queen Street, Cardiff, UK
Nov 26, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Cardiff
Join artist Ren Wolfe for Puppet Clwb, a bi-monthly (every other week) creative workshop. In each session, we’ll bring characters to life by creating unique puppets, masks, and sculptural objects using reclaimed materials. Every workshop introduces a new creation, paired with time to explore, play, and experiment with performing alongside these imaginative pieces. There’s no experience required, the sessions will be relaxed and led by Ren who will provide instruction and techniques. Ren is a South Wales based early-career artist and workshop facilitator, whose practice explores how we can use play and imagination to understand and create ourselves, our communities, and the world around us. They are influenced by a varied well of inspiration including medieval manuscript illustrations, puppetry, folk ritual, theatre, and carnival. From this springboard, she creates informal and joyous pieces that revel in their handmade-ness and tempt curiosity with fragmented narratives. They are interested in exploring how creating experiential ‘moments to pause for play’ function in a tumultuous world that creeps ever closer to digital futures. Ren worked with PWSH in 2023 to create a mural in Aubergine Arts Cafe. We’re excited to work together again to celebrate difference and re-imagine our new public space… Info The sessions cost a minimum donation of £12 and all materials are provided. 6-8pm Every other Tuesday starting November 28th (we'll add further dates soon!) At Hypha Studios X PWSH x neurospicyplaydate, 111 Queens Street, Cardiff Access Info All gender and disabled loos. Quiet space. A neurodivergent and inclusion-led space.
