Safeguarding 3 Online Workshop | Online workshop through Zoom

Apr 16, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Dun Laoghaire
Sports & Fitness
Safeguarding 3 - Designated Liaison Person(DLP) A person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person (DLP) position in a club must have completed the Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course (Safeguarding 1 Workshop) and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. A club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. The third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TULSA Child and Family Agency or Social Services (NI) and/or An Garda Siochán / PSNI. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role, the Club Children's Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation's child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. The Sport Ireland Code has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports, clubs, local sports partnerships and community/voluntary groups on an ongoing basis since 2000. It has been encouraging to see the common sense approach to the adoption of the code at grass roots level, which has resulted in protection for young people and leaders. VENUE INFORMATION This is an online workshop that will take place over zoom. The zoom link and course material will be emailed to registered participants a couple of days before the course takes place. The zoom details are not to be shared with others and only those registered will be admitted to the course. GDPR By registering for this workshop your name, email and D.O.B will be shared with Sport Ireland. This information is required to produce your certificate of completion. PERFORMERS Jaki Irvine, video Izumi Kimura, piano Joe O'Farrell, flute Sarah Grimes, drum kit Marco Colonna, saxophone Louise Phelan, vocals SHHh...Ow...emmMis a month-long multifaceted project by visual artist Jaki Irvine, that will involve video development, music performances and installations, and which will culminate in an installation and collaborative performance at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, Sussex, later this year. In this partially devised improvised audio-visual music performance Jaki projects and manipulates her video works in realtime to create a live score for the musicians. This unique experimental work weaves real-life video, digital animation, and live music improvisation into an evolving, interactive score. Inspired by the classic tune “Show Me the Way to Go Home” (iconically remembered from Jaws), this collaborative improvisation between visuals and sound offers an unforgettable immersive experience. Jaki Irvine is a renowned Irish artist celebrated for her innovative and interdisciplinary practice, which spans video, sound, writing, and installation. A current studio artist at Temple Bar Gallery + Studios, Irvine is known for her ability to weave intricate narratives that explore themes of memory, history, language, and human relationships. Her work often combines the personal with the political, creating immersive, multi-sensory experiences that challenge and engage audiences. Whether in single-screen format or in more complex installations, Irvine creates open-ended narratives in which image and musical score overlap, coalesce and diverge. Moving between overt musicality and the edges where a sound begins or ends, Irvine focuses on the rigours and pleasures of editing, of playing an instrument, bringing together the private space of practice with the possibilities of performance it anticipates. Over the years, she has exhibited widely, earning recognition for her distinctive visual style and thought-provoking conceptual frameworks. Due to a high demand there will be two performances on Tuesday, April 22nd. The first will be from 6-7pm and the second from 7.30-8.30pm. As the work is a combination of prepared, scored elements and live improvisation of music and imagery, each performance will be similar but different. Each performance must be booked separately. Sports & Fitness
For the first time ever CCI is hosting a national 5 Aside Football Tournament for the churches in the movement led by Niall Byrne and partnership with Sports Chaplaincy. This is a place for you to build community, connection and participate in competetive fun with those from your community and across the island. This could also be a great evangelistic opportunity to share faith with friends through sport! How it works: Each church is welcome to bring up to 2 teams of 8 to participate. It is €80 per team. There will be time and space for 16 teams to play against one another, head into quarter finals, semi finals, etc with the winning team taking home bragging rights and a shield! We can't wait to get on the pitch with you. Information Source: Christian Churches Ireland | eventbrite
