Aside from this, Levi runs creative writing workshops in prisons, schools and universities and has become a pillar of the L8 community, merited with Liverpool's Citizen of Honour in 2023. Unearthing the ancient art of Chinese painting for the 2025 Heritage Festival. Learn the basics of traditional Chinese ink brush painting, using simple but expressive brush strokes on rice paper to create a Chinese painting of a carp (or koi) fish with Dr Fan Dongwang. Dr Fan Dongwang Shanghai Born, Sydney artist Dr Fan Dongwang studied traditional Chinese art at Shanghai School of Arts and Crafts in the 70's. He studied a Master of Arts at NSW University in 1995, produced series work called Descendant Bodies. In 2000 he completed a Doctor of Creative Art at Wollongong University, and showed his final work Shifting Perspective and Body in Wollongong Art Gallery. His paintings were also exhibited in the Australia National Gallery and numerous university and regional art galleries throughout Australia. Join us for a walk of Liverpool’s famous waterfront with Peter de Figueiredo, who will tell the story of how the George's Dock, built in 1771, became the site of the three monumental Edwardian buildings that dominate Liverpool's waterfront and testify to the city's pre-eminence in global trade during the early years of the 20th century. The walk will include the Three Graces, the monuments that stand in their shadow and other surrounding buildings that are part of the story. Peter de Figueiredo is an architect, architectural historian, author and long-term Victorian Society member. He is author/joint author of Liverpool's historic places of worship; Mersey: the river that changed the world; Cheshire Country Houses; Religion and Place: Victorian Manchester and Salford and The Rows of Chester.
