Under the Tuscan Sun: The Wines of Tuscany | JAK's Beer Wine Spirits

Aug 7, 2025 (UTC-7)
Vancouver
Cultural Experiences
Among Italy’s central regions, Tuscany stands unrivaled as the heart of winemaking excellence—home to some of the world’s most celebrated wines. From the timeless elegance of Brunello di Montalcino to the bold innovation of Super Tuscans and the storied heritage of Chianti Classico, these iconic names only begin to tell the story. Tuscany is more than its wine; it is a living tapestry of olive groves and cypress-lined vineyards, sun-drenched hills, and medieval villages frozen in time. The soul of this land is deeply rooted in its traditions, yet ever-evolving in its expression. We invite you to join us at the table for an in-depth journey through Toscana—a place where every glass tells a story, and every sip get us a little closer to la dolce vita! Our shop tastings start at 7pm and run for approximately one to one and a half hours. We will match 4-6 wines or 6-8 beers on a theme, accompanied by some light nibbles chosen to pair with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements. Tickets are fully refundable up to 7 days prior to the event. Tickets are available for purchase in-store or online at Eventbrite Information Source: JAK's Beer Wine Spirits | eventbrite

With credits including HBO, Just For Laughs, CBC, CTV, Comedy Central, Comedy Network, Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Las Vegas Comedy Festival (To name just a few) this comedy veteran brings a unique, edgy, energetic, intelligent style to the stage that is unmatched anywhere in stand up comedy. Straddling the topics of suicide, homelessness, AI, vaccines, sex work , late stage capitalism, environmental collapse and most importantly the very reason dark comedy is the best. If you're not familiar with Simon it's best to look him up before you come but you can be assured this isn't some right wing "I'm dangerous becuase I say all the taboo words" temper tantrum. This is real, smart, hilariously dark comedy for people who appreciate laughing in the face of the hard things.Simon is taping his latest special at home in Vancouver over two shows on one night and if you want to say you were there when he filmed it, this is your chance. "Wicked f**kin funny" - Doug Stanhope "Truly a gifted comedian." - Robin Williams "Simon deserves your attention." - Rory Scovel Two shows: 7:30 and 9:30 Adult language, subject matter and very dark material. It involves residents painting yellow fish next to catch basins and handing out educational door hangers in the community to explain the program. Catch basin marking is an easy, fun activity open to everyone. By marking a catch basin, you remind everyone that anything that flows down the catch basins goes into our waterways and can affect wildlife. Seen a Yellow Fish in your neighbourhood? Enter our photo contest by emailing a photo of the marked catch basin and its location to yellowfish@vancouver.ca and you will be entered into a random draw. Did you know that a City of Vancouver umbrella is perfect for both sunny and rainy weather? Enter to win an umbrella with a map of your favourite City, and walk away in salmon socks and a Fit City tote bag. Prizes will be drawn at the event, and all event attendees will be automatically entered into the draw. Information Source: City of Vancouver Sewers & Drainage Design | eventbrite
