Auckland
Are the kids alright? We’ve been thinking about the future of the party scene. How much power are we all giving over to the algorithms to guide our music tastes? It doesn’t sit right with us. So, we’re putting on a special free entry club night for the future generation of old school ravers. Our purpose: to educate and entertain. We’re experienced partiers who’ve soaked up some of the finest festivals and club nights that Europe, Australia and Aotearoa have to offer. It’s time to pass on that wisdom. So, we’ve curated an exciting line up of selectors who know how to push the boundaries but also know when to pull back to keep the dancefloor going. Expect our signature blend of fun and UK influenced house and garage, sounds and samples from rave’s heyday, plus the occasional tasteful pop edit or summer festival anthem just to keep your brain rot satisfied. Most importantly, don’t forget what your favourite primary teacher taught you and treat others how you want to be treated. Respect others, respect the dancefloor, and respect yourself. It’s only fun if everyone can have some. School is in session soon. Tell mum not to wait up. R18, ID required.

Shen Yun 2025 | Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre
Feb 21, 2025 (UTC+12)ENDED
Auckland
A Divine Culture—LostThrough breathtaking dance and music, Shen Yun’s artists tell of a time when divine beings walked upon the earth, leaving behind a culture that inspired generations. Ancient Chinese wisdom, infused with Buddhist and Taoist spirituality and values, gave birth to everything from medical innovations to opera, dance, architecture, and even martial arts. But after decades of communist rule, much of this divinely inspired culture has been destroyed or forgotten. 5,000 Years of Civilization RebornShen Yun is a brilliant artistic revival and celebration of China’s rich cultural heritage. Each performance consists of about 20 pieces, quickly moving from one legend, region, or dynasty to the next. Themes range from the delicate elegance of Tang court ladies to the battlefield heroics of valiant generals, from the timeless philosophical works of Lao-Tzu to spectacular scenes of magical realms. Some pieces also touch upon the topic of today’s China, shedding light on the oppression many experience for their spiritual beliefs, such as Falun Dafa. These tales of courage are often what audience members find the most touching and uplifting. Shen Yun’s works convey the extraordinary depth and breadth of genuine Chinese culture, and bring the magnificence of five thousand years of civilization back to life on stage. UNPLUGGED is an intimate acoustic gig series curated by artists Gabi Fortune, GNESYER, Jackson Charles, Jesse Tuhaka, and Livv. The series provides a rare opportunity to experience both original music and covers in their most simplistic form — just one instrument and vocals — offering a fresh and personal experience for audiences. In this installment, UNPLUGGED: Refresh Sessions, the lineup takes the stage in a unique and vibrant setting — a rooftop under the summer sun.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________ After the success of UNPLUGGED: Reverie Sessions and UNPLUGGED: Refraction Sessions, UNPLUGGED has quickly become a favorite among audiences. It offers a refreshing departure from the high-production performances typically seen in full-band gigs, providing artists with the opportunity to connect more deeply with audiences through intimate performances and live Q&A segments. Come along and enjoy an afternoon of soulful acoustic sounds, genuine conversation, and good vibes — an experience that goes beyond just the songs. OUR ARTISTS - GABI FORTUNE As a versatile instrumentalist from Auckland New Zealand, Gabi weaves together intricate layers of sound, effortlessly blending elements of soul, pop, and rock to create a unique sonic tapestry. Whether wielding a guitar, tickling the ivories of a piano, or commanding the stage with their powerful vocals, Gabi captivates listeners with her musical prowess, heartfelt performances and reflective lyrics. OUR ARTISTS - GNESYER GNESYER is an emerging pop singer/songwriter from Tamaki Makaurau. She is particularly renowned for her impassioned and electrifying gigs which showcase her years of experience in the performing arts. With her songs inspired by the harmonies of 70s and 80s pop, GNESYER always promises a soul-permeating sonic landscape; her dynamic lyricism, arresting vocals and toe-tapping rhythms will swirl in your ears and will remain embedded in your mind. OUR ARTISTS - JACKSON CHARLES Jackson Charles is a multi-faceted instrumentalist hailing from Taupō, New Zealand. Besides performing in too many bands to count, Jackson writes descriptive, poetic lyrics about never-heard-before topics like “life” and “love”. Influenced by his teenage years in South Auckland, he uses a melting pot of genres to connect with his audience, which, besides sounding a little pretentious, guarantees that you’ll come curious and leave enlightened. OUR ARTISTS - LIVV livv is a blue pop artist, whose smooth vocals and soulful lyrics will transport you to the centre of your own heartbreak. She tells stories with her lyrics in ways that will have you giving your no-good-ex a piece of your mind, or have you singing along to her catchy hooks. Songs filled with sugar and spice, livv’s velvety vocals will leave you desiring just one last sweet tune.
