Kayode Ojo: An angel is just a messenger | Maureen Paley
Apr 25–May 31, 2025 (UTC)
London
Maureen Paley presents An angel is just a messenger, the first solo exhibition of Kayode Ojo at the gallery and in the UK.
His work employs a process of sourcing, collecting and displaying objects. His sculptures reveal how items can confer social status upon their owner, examining the artifice of taste and the aspirations associated with it. Though the sculptures reflect on the markers of excess and accumulation, these carefully staged compositions also embrace the fragility and impractical beauty of their objects.
Pietro Consagra. A Breathable Landscape. Sculptures 1964-1966 | Sprovieri
Apr 25–May 30, 2025 (UTC)
London
Sprovieri presents Pietro Consagra. A Breathable Landscape. Sculptures 1964-1966, in collaboration with Archivio Pietro Consagra.
It was Pietro Consagra’s vision of life that shaped his first sculptures - meant to be seen whole from a single vantage point, dismissing the need to circle around them, establishing instead an immediate, equal relationship with the viewer - like looking straight into someone’s eyes.
Already in 1952, in his writing Necessità della scultura, which countered Arturo Martini’s La scultura lingua morta, Consagra affirmed the environmental nature of his work: sculpture that does not impose, but draws one in; that builds bonds between man, space, and proportion, giving form to a silent yet vital dialogue.
The Way Forward: Derek Boshier and the Sixties | Gazelli Art House
Apr 25–Jun 28, 2025 (UTC)
London
Gazelli Art House London presents The Way Forward: Derek Boshier and the Sixties, the first posthumous solo exhibition dedicated to Derek Boshier (1937—2024).
Curated with renowned art historian Marco Livingstone, the exhibition focuses on works from the 1960s and charts the transformations in Boshier’s worldview and visual style, in parallel to wider changes in society. This landmark presentation revisits Boshier’s pivotal transition from pioneering Pop figuration to bold geometric abstraction, a shift catalysed by his travels to India in 1962 under a Commonwealth scholarship.
Nicholas Marschner: Silent Running | London
Apr 25–May 31, 2025 (UTC)
London
Alice Amati presents 'Silent Running', Nicholas Marschner's first solo presentation with the gallery in London. The exhibition is accompanied by a text written by Thomas McMullan.
The figures that populate the enigmatic paintings of Nicholas Marschner (b. 1995, UK) often stand apart, like shades trapped within their own recollections. At times basked in a gauze of sunlight, at others woozily nocturnal, the mise-en-scène of these groupings share an ambiguity of time and space. Are we positioned inside or outside, within a forest or a hall of mirrors? Is the figure glimpsed through an aperture of light a lover or a mannequin in a shop window?

Feb 14–May 26, 2025 (UTC)ENDED

Oskar Reinhart (1885-1965), a well-known Swiss art collector and patron, bequeathed his collection and house to the Swiss federal government after his death. In 1970, the Swiss government converted his former residence "Am Römerholz" into the Oscar Reinhart Art Museum, which mainly collects early Western classical master paintings and works by Impressionist artists.
Taking the opportunity of the closure of the Oscar Reinhart Art Museum for renovation in 2025, the Courtauld Art Museum will host the first large-scale exhibition of Oscar Reinhart's collection outside of Switzerland. This exhibition will focus on the works of Spanish painter Francisco Goya, the pioneer of the French Romantic School of Painting Theodore Géricault, the founder of the French Realist School of Painting Gustave Courbet, and many Impressionist and Post-Impressionist artists.
Highlights include Manet's "In the Café," Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's "Chaucau the Clown," Cézanne's still life and two works created by Van Gogh during his hospital stay in Arles.
