Ring Making Workshop by Mollie Paling | The Well Brighton
Dec 11, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Brighton
Learn how to design and create your very own bespoke ring in Brightons hidden beer store, The Well. In the workshop you will be taught a range of techniques and processes demonstrated by Mollie Paling, from FLUX Jewellery. In the 2.5 hour workshop you will carve and sculpt your own wax ring using a variety of tools to explore and experiment with mark making, forming shape and surface texture. Don’t worry, everyone will start with a test piece allowing time to familiarise yourself with the material and methods of making. Once comfortable you will start to create your own ring individually inspired by your own ideas and personal taste. The ring can really be as dramatic or simple as you desire. By the end of your session you’ll have a finished wax ring ready for casting. After the class the rings are then sent and cast in 100% recycled silver ( or recycled gold if desired, cost difference will be explained) Then polished up in our workshop and returned within 3 weeks either by collection or post to your door. All levels and abilities are welcome.

Paper Collage Workshop | The Garden House
Dec 20, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Brighton
Spend a winter’s day in the cosy Garden House with artist Jane Horne. Paper collage is a creative, sustainable and hands-on craft. Using the garden, images of the local landscape and your imagination as inspiration, create textured and colourful images. With Jane as your guide you will begin by creating colours and patterns on paper using rubbings, spattering and mark making. There will be a choice of papers, different textures, and various mediums to explore. Then you will create a collage either cutting, tearing or both - there are no rules to collage, it can be as precise or random as you choose! All materials will be provided but feel free to bring any wrappings or cuttings you may choose. Jane becomes absorbed in the subject and the process, enjoying the contrast between the studied delicacy of her flower painting, the considered method of her landscape weaving and the relative spontaneity of collage. Jane was awarded 2022 Surrey Artist of the Year. Cost: £125, to include vegetarian lunch and refreshments
