Chef Kelly will have something unique and exciting prepared as always so be sure to get a table reserved for your group and let us know you are coming for dinner also. Blues Town blues band formed in the summer of 2024. Their music collaboration has an obvious heavy bent to the blues with splashes of soul, rock, funk & occassionally hints of jazz. They are an easy-going crew that doesn't take themselves too seriously, but are serious about delivering great music with a twist of the usual in their song choices. John Presker, Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals, brings a wealth of experience, playing all styles of music and has a vast touring history. His guitar skills are extraordinary & his raspy soulful vocals always delivery. John's 25th Anniversary Fender Strat creates the signature sound that is Blues Town and is a great compliment to his vintage Fender amp. Erynn Carmichael, Keyboards and Lead Vocals, was born in Manitoba but has called the Okanagan home since 2009. Erynn's soulful, smoky alto voice is what gives the band a unique flavour, as well as the beautiful rock organ sound that comes from her Hammond SK Pro. Erynn likes to mime out lesser known songs with great melodies & grooves to create fresh arrangements for the audience. Jim Gorek, Bass/ BGVs, has been playing bass since his teens in a variety of bands in Kamloops, Calgary and Prince George. His remote job had him out of the loop for a while but with his move to Penticton he is back playing with a vengence now and is loving it and the people he gets to play alongside. Joe Carmichael, Drums/ Audio, lays down the beat on a Lidwig drum kit with K Sweet cymbals and strives for intentional dynamics. He also handles the band's audio tech needs and loves to talk gear of all kinds. Information Source: Highway 97 Brewing | eventbrite

Ron Romanowski’s poetry collection 10,000 Dancers Working Off Broadway is the Winnipeg poet and musician’s poetic treatise and poetic proof of the links between dance, dancing, and poetry. Based on his New Festival Theory Ron provides a strikingly lyrical, and poetically logical fifty-plus works that mark, waltz, jive, and hop from ancient civilizations through the Renaissance, W.B. Yeats, Post-modernism, and right into the famous socials of Winnipeg’s North End. Dance is poetry. Poetry is dance. Follow Ron’s rhythms straight into a positive, prophetical, laudatory, philosophical, poignant, and hard-won comforting body of poetry that sets itself smack dab against the crises, trials and tribulations, and parochial warfare of our modern world. And as so often in the past perhaps a way forward can be found through the Arts. Everyone is welcome at the dance. 10,000 Dancers Working Off Broadway is Winnipeg writer Ron Romanowski’s 10th poetry collection. His first, Sweet Talking, was published in 2004. In 2019 his If 30,000 Strikers Marched Today was published in commemoration of the centennial of the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. His work has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies and has been read on national CBC Radio. Recently he won the Gimli Icelandic Festival and the Lake Winnipeg Writers’ Group poetry contests. His work continues to express the vulnerability of the natural world and hope for our planet in a challenging, entertaining, and often humorous manner. Recent publications:In February 2025 Ron's poem We Rejoiced in Nature Once Our Savior was selected as a finalist at the Poetry of Painting Exhibition of works written for paintings at the CMU University MHC Gallery and he was chosen as one of the finalists to read for International Poetry Day.Ron's poem Reverie: Canada Postie Winter Strike will be published in Fall 2025 in the modern Labor anthology from Roseway Publishing, I’ll Get Right On It: Poems on Working Life in the Climate Crisis.Ron's poem Some Intelligent Children Now Grown will be published in an Australian academic publication in 2025, Sputnik’s Children: History of the Major Work Program in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Schools, 1954–1972, by Reesa Sorin, PHD. In early twentieth-century literature, scenes of reading offer a fascinating glimpse at how modernist writers viewed the act of reading itself and understood the challenges posed by modernist texts. In this session, we will be in conversation with Helen Tyson about her 2024 book, Reading Modernism’s Readers: Virginia Woolf, Psychoanalysis and the Bestseller. Focusing primarily on the works of Virginia Woolf, Tyson explores scenes of reading in Woolf’s novels alongside writings by Marcel Proust, Ethel M. Dell, Sigmund Freud, James Strachey, Melanie Klein and Marion Milner. She argues that the “staged, fictionalised encounter with literary texts lies at the heart of early twentieth-century culture” and uses this to explore the way that reading is staged in literary modernism, bestselling novels, and psychoanalysis. In this session, we will discuss psychoanalysis and portraits of the child reader in Woolf, Proust, and Freud; Bestselling romance novels, their readers and the works of Ethel M. Dell; the relationship between reading and redemption in Woolf’s The Waves; Woolf’s The Years, Milner’s An Experiment in Leisure, and the emergence of fascism.
