Over the course of two days, participants will explore the artistic documentation, archiving, and inspiration that can be found in combining writing and dance. Guided by Emily and Tanner, who draw from a range of theatrical practices including devising, contemporary dance, physical theatre, and musical theatre, attendees will engage in writing and movement exercises that intersect and complement each other. Through exercises in theatrical collage and emotional narrative, this duo aims to expand your artistic toolkit, providing participants with a range of tools, resources, and pathways that can be utilized throughout the creation process of a dance or theatre piece. As a reference point, examples of text and choreography from Walk&Talk Theatre’s past productions, including "The Last Garden," and their upcoming work "End of the Line" (premiering May 2024 with Theatre Projects Manitoba), will be used. While attending both sessions is encouraged, each workshop can also be experienced as a standalone event. Additionally, ASL interpretation will be available for all dates in the 2024 Workshop Series.
