February Kollab 2025 | Shoreham-by-Sea
Feb 9, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Shoreham-by-Sea
Febuary Kollab is full to bursting with gorgeous music and open mic slots waiting to be claimed. Jon Sharps sails in from the west and Luan Luan flies in from the east, two song-writing finger-style guitar players with very different vibes! More about them both below. Not only that, we have a local Kollaboration of violin, guitar and singing. Mervyn Wallis, Garima Ulrich and Jan Ashford join forces with songs of River, Sea, Love and a Magpie! Gentle harmonies and heartfelt violin weave a thread into a colourful landscape. Please email katrinabysea@gmail.com for an open mic slot, all forms of creativity welcome! Or just come to listen, that's just as important and valued! There's no bar, so please bring your own drinks, hot or cold, alcohol or otherwise. *We'll start promptly at 7pm* Looking forward to seeing you, Katrina x LUAN LUAN From Madrid based in Brighton, known for their contagious blend of indie-pop meets funk, r&b and soul, Luan Luan isn’t following any rulebook. Energetic and fuelled with charm, you can feel this songwriter’s stunning presence from the get-go. Luan Luan has a story to tell as a young immigrant with a very diverse musical background and living experiences in the UK. They write music as a way of reaching a deeper understanding of personal experiences, and perceptions of the world that surround us, through a synaesthetic lens. They have the power to bring the audience inside their vibrant and rhythmic style of playing: their finger-style guitar work adds a very rhythmic edge to their writing, beautifully underpinning their catchy melodies, and an unexpected saxophone reflects another deep level of their expressive songwriting. JON SHARPS Jon Sharps is a finger-style guitar player who combines intricate fingerpicking with rich songwriting. He is influenced by the great folk and blues artists of the 20th century and writes original songs that sound timeless and authentic. He is fascinated with crafting lyrics and skilfully uses metaphor and imagery to tell his stories. Based in Hampshire Jon plays in a band called ‘The Washed Out Parade’ who have just recorded their debut album, due for release in 6th April. KOLLAB FEEDBACK Wanted to say thank you for a really lovely open mic last night. This morning was the first time I have woken up feeling joyful without and dread dreams in the night for about two weeks. You created a really safe space and welcoming event. June Kollab 2025 | Shoreham-by-Sea
Jun 22, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Shoreham-by-Sea
Join us for the first of our Summer Kollabs - a warm and welcoming evening jam-packed with music, words and a beautiful attentive audience! We have a gorgeous lineup of Brighton talent that'll bring the sunshine in, regardless of the weather: singer Lara Good, poet Ayana Playle and singer-songwriter-guitarer Big Friendly Jones. More about all of them below. As usual the mic will be open to all forms of creativity and all levels of experience. Please email katrinabysea@gmail.com before the event for a slot. There's no bar, so please bring your own drinks, hot or cold, alcohol or otherwise. *We'll start promptly at 7pm* Looking forward to seeing you, Katrina x LARA GOOD Lara Good is a singer and performer based in London and Brighton. She trained in Music and Musical Theatre at the University of Chichester and has since gone on to perform in a variety of musicals, concerts, and live events. Recent highlights include appearing on Channel 5’s Milkshake! and performing in shows like Legally Blonde, Made in Dagenham, and James Bond Extravaganza. Lara loves connecting with audiences through music and storytelling and is excited to be part of this event! AYANA PLAYLE Ayana is a queer spoken word poet based near Brighton, with a background in theatre and performance-making. Her work blends sharp wit with raw emotion, using humour and wordplay to make people laugh, cry, and - most importantly - think. Sometimes all at once.
Her poetry is both political and personal, exploring themes like environmental injustice, climate collapse, LGBTQ+ rights, womanhood, friendship, love, and the beautiful (and not so beautiful) everyday. Expect humour, honesty, and hope - with a splash of anger, a couple of rhymes, and something that (hopefully) hits home. BIG FRIENDLY JONES Big Friendly Jones was trying to decide if he should ask AI to help him write this bio. Problem is, he’s seen Terminator 2: Judgment Day and so fears that this one tiny action might just be the turning point for the machines. Like Sarah Conner before him, a duty to save the human race weighs heavy on his overactive mind. But he hopes that by sharing his heartfelt and disarming songs about connection, grief and love in the company of other human beings, the shared experience might play a small part in counteracting the algorithms…and the robots. KOLLAB FEEDBACK Wanted to say thank you for a really lovely open mic last night.
