Each year, thousands of breakers from across Canada compete to be the best and represent their region at the Red Bull BC One National Final. Dr. Jojola has a distinguished career as an educator and practitioner in urban and regional planning and other related subjects, with particular specialty in indigenous planning. Since 1980, he has taught at the University of New Mexico. He served as director of Native American Studies from 1980 to 1996, acting director of the Community and Regional Planning Program in 1995-96 and director in 2004-05. In 2010, he obtained funding for iArchitecture, an interdisciplinary course on contemporary indigenous architecture at UNM. He has an ongoing cultural consultancy with the Native American Cultural Center, Northern Arizona State University, Studio Ma Architects. Dr. Jojola prepared the Tribal Planning Student Internships & Planning Information Handbook for the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department in 2009. He conducted community workshops on indigenous planning for the US Department of Justice and regional workshops on tribal community planning, Policy Research Center, National Congress of American Indians in 2008. He is an ongoing participant in the Indigenous Planning Exchange, US Department of Education since 2007. Dr. Jojola participated in the Visioning 21st Century Tribal Community Planning, Tribal Planning Summit, Arizona State University in 2007. He has also been involved since 2007 with the New Mexico Indian Education Atlas. Dr. Jojola has published in many books and periodicals, and has prepared technical and commissioned research reports. Recently, he prepared Planning in Indian Country: Regional Conversations, a report of findings for eight regional tribal summits, 2007-2009 for the National Congress of American Indians (released 2011). He wrote the Legacy of the Pueblo Revolt and the Tiquex Province in an anthology of Po`pay and the Pueblo Revolt, edited by Joe Sando, Clear Light Book Publishers in 2005. He has also received many recognition awards for the merits of his work, including the Richard W. Etulain Honorary Lectureship in 2012 and distinguished professorship in 2011. The duo has garnered an impressive list of accomplishments, including recital tours of their Women in Music, Art of the Duo, and Colorfully Contemporary programs in the US and Canada, an appearance in Carnegie Hall, and a performance as guests at a G7 Summit event held at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. Jacob and Sasha are top prizewinners of numerous international competitions both individually and together, are frequent guests with ensembles and series across North America, and are increasingly involved with premiers of new music written specifically for Ezra. The duo also hosts an online recital series called Ezra Electrified! on Twitch, where they present themed classical and crossover programming while performing on electric instruments. As dedicated educators, they have given masterclasses at Berry College, the University of Tulsa, and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, and provided workshops as guest instructors at Harding Fine Arts Academy in Oklahoma since 2018. THE EZRA DUO Recognized as “an iconic team” (Fairbanks Daily News-Miner), The Ezra Duo (Jacob Clewell, viola/violin and Sasha Bult-Ito, piano) is the classical music equivalent of a powerhouse pop-punk act. Known for their warm stage demeanor and inventive, relatable programming, Ezra challenges the possibilities of classical performance without losing sight of their roots. The duo has garnered an impressive list of accomplishments, including recital tours of their Women in Music, Art of the Duo, and Colorfully Contemporary programs in the US and Canada, an appearance in Carnegie Hall, and a performance as guests at a G7 Summit event held at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. Jacob and Sasha are top prizewinners of numerous international competitions both individually and together, are frequent guests with ensembles and series across North America, and are increasingly involved with premiers of new music written specifically for Ezra. The duo also hosts an online recital series called Ezra Electrified! on Twitch, where they present themed classical and crossover programming while performing on electric instruments. Their first album, titled Mystic Journey, released August 2024 and is distributed by Universal Music Group worldwide. As dedicated educators, they have given masterclasses at Berry College, the University of Tulsa, and the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, and provided workshops as guest instructors at Harding Fine Arts Academy in Oklahoma since 2018. Jacob and Sasha are co-Artistic Directors of the Emerald Coast Chamber Music Festival in Florida and serve as Artist Faculty at the annual Chamber Music Institute for advanced conservatory students, where they often co-coach student ensembles. Ezra is also frequently involved in outreach efforts, presenting talks and performances in partnership with organizations like the Toronto Public Library, Canada's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, and in schools, youth programs, and retirement communities wherever they visit. Make your own negatives from digital images or scan, and hand-print them in the darkroom. This workshop will cover the fundamental technical knowledge for making digital negatives. Participants will learn to use tools in Photoshop to control tonal values and contrast, tailor images for a specific process, and the general workflow to maintain consistency and print quality. A former expat in Australia, she has worked for contemporary art galleries and art-based initiatives in Sydney and Northern Territory.
