They co-founded the Pacific Northwest's first Global Bass dance party (Atlas 2003-2013), are known for their radio shows: Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Kush weekly on KBOO.FM, and seven years of Chor Bazaar on XRAY.FM. Few DJs can be said to have changed the sound of their city, but that is exactly what DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid have accomplished since they first introduced Portland, Oregon nightclub audiences to the many varied sounds of Global Bass at a raucous New Year's Eve debut in 2000. They are most known for incinerating dance floors with the heavy dance floor artillery of South Asia, but the duo scour the globe for any hard-hitting music that combines local music traditions with window-rattling production. The NEXT install of the seasonal DARK Events will occur this upcoming Halloween evening. Our first annual meeting of Vampires, Werewolves & Slayers was a smashing success, so we have decided to bring back the “peaceful” middle ground for the esteemed creatures of the night. However, now the rules have changed: things that may have been forbidden at our initial meeting may now be in play… with consent. We invite you to step into our world and come dressed to play along with our performers, in this safe middle ground for all creatures. For this event, DARK Events returns to Continental Club to accommodate our best sold experience of the season. Start the evening off by interacting with roaming creatures of the night and a b0ndage performance from Twisted Windows. The main Variety Show features aerial acrobatic performances by our in-house troupe, The Dragonettes, as well as performers from Misfit Cabaret, Displayed Labor Sideshow, Flux Vertical Theater, DAM Circus, Strange Onstage + MORE. Stay after the main show for a costume contest + dance afterparty. Costumes are highly encouraged, so please come as a vampire, werewolf or slayer. Looking for something fun and low pressure to do on Halloween? Join Omega for a special mermaid-themed raqs sharqi (bellydance) class! In this class, we'll learn a short, beginner-friendly choreography to the song 3Daqat ( 3 Beats ) by Abu/Yousra. In this beautiful Egyptian pop song, the singer depicts his lover as a mermaid emerging from the sea. Makeup and Halloween costumes of all kinds (but especially ocean-themed) are encouraged (but not required)! Please make sure you can comfortably move and bend in your costume if you are wearing one. This class will be low impact and low cardio so we can focus on the romantic feeling of the music. No previous dance experience is required. Dancers ages 13 and up are welcome! Dancers under 18 must have a parent/guardian present to sign a waiver.
