Osaka Museum of History will hold a special exhibition "YABU MEIZAN" from Wednesday, September 3, 2025 to Monday, November 3, 2025 (National Holiday) in the special exhibition room on the 8th floor. From the end of the Edo period to the Meiji era, Satsuma ware from Kagoshima, which was exported from Japan to other countries, was called "SATSUMA" and caused a huge fad. Riding on this trend, industries producing and overglazing "Satsuma ware"-style ceramics began to appear in pottery areas and areas close to export ports across the country. Meanwhile, for about half a century from the early Meiji period to the early Showa period, overglazing and selling Satsuma ware for export were also carried out in Kita-ku, Osaka, and YABU MEIZAN was the name and brand name of the workshop owner. The owner of the studio, Yabu Meizan, also known as Masashichi (1853-1934), was born in Osaka in 1853 as the son of the Nanga painter Yabu Chosui (1813-1867). He began working in Osaka in the early Meiji period, and established his studio in 1880. He was an important figure in the modern Osaka arts and crafts world, receiving the Business Achievement Award from Osaka Prefecture in 1920. This exhibition will explore the true nature of Yabu Meizan, based on the results of 20 years of research since the special exhibition "The Beauty of Meizan Satsuma - Modern Osaka Ceramics Beloved at the World Exposition" held in 2005.

Osaka Museum of History will hold a special exhibition "Treasures of Osaka in Osaka Museum of History" from Saturday, September 13, 2025 to Monday, October 13, 2025 (National Holiday) in the special exhibition room on the 6th floor. In conjunction with the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, the Osaka City Museum Organization has selected 120 "Treasures of Osaka" from the collections of six museums and art galleries in Osaka City, which number more than 2 million items. These are a wide range of materials and works that have been collected and passed down by our predecessors along with the prosperity of the city of Osaka. In addition to the 20 "Treasures of Osaka" from Osaka Museum of History, this exhibition will select the items from the museum's collection that curators particularly want you to see, and classify them into five indexes to show their significance and appeal. Osaka Museum of History considers "Treasures of Osaka" to be the "things" and "events" left behind by people who were born or raised in Osaka, or who lived or worked here. The diverse "faces" of these objects illuminate Osaka's characteristics from various angles and provide hints for the future. Human activity in Osaka is known to date back more than 30,000 years. Due to its geographical location facing the sea, Osaka has been a place of active domestic and international traffic since ancient times. The Hirano-go Summer Festival is held at Kumada Shrine in Hirano-ku, Osaka City. It is one of Osaka's famous float festivals, attracting more than 300,000 people every year. The highlight is the night of July 12th and 13th. Elegant floats (decorated parade floats with wheels) representing the nine neighborhoods of the old Hirano-go area are unveiled! The nine floats travel along Nanko-dori Avenue to the grounds of Kumada Shrine, with a flower-pulling competition on the way.

(Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter PARCO) will hold an exhibition + pop-up shop event [DEATH STRANDING 5th Anniversary Exhibition & Popup] at Shibuya, Nagoya, and Shinsaibashi PARCO to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the release of the world-famous game "DEATH STRANDING" by KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. "Death Stranding" is an open-world action adventure game created by game creator Hideo Kojima and starring world-famous actors such as Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lea Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner. It boasts a total of more than 19 million players worldwide, and even now, five years after its release, it has many enthusiastic fans. An exhibition + pop-up shop event to commemorate the 5th anniversary of its release will be held at Shibuya PARCO in November. Since then, he has produced a succession of innovative architectural works that break through preconceived notions. Since the 1990s, he has expanded his scope of activity to the world, while also working hard on social contribution projects such as environmental restoration and earthquake recovery. His vigorous work across many fields, going beyond the framework of an architect, has earned him high praise both at home and abroad. This exhibition, which will be held in Osaka, where Ando remains based, will bring together the history of his grand challenges as well as his vision for the present and future, providing a comprehensive view of the work of Tadao Ando. One of Japan's premier whisky tasting events, the Osaka Whisky Festival is a must-attend for all lovers of the tipple. The festival brings together over 100 exhibitors from around the world and is open to anyone aged 20 and over. You can sample a wide range of whiskies, many of which are free to sample. Held in cities such as Tokyo and Osaka since 2007, the festival has become a major event, with special events such as the Bourbon Festival and Bottled in Black Festival. The Ikudama Matsuri is one of Osaka's three major summer festivals (Ikudama Matsuri, Tenjin Matsuri, and Sumiyoshi Matsuri) and is held every July at the Ikudama Shrine. It is known for its vibrant festival that announces the arrival of summer in Osaka. The Aizen Matsuri is one of Osaka's three major summer festivals, dedicated to the gods of love and charm. Carefully selected young women from a community known as "Aizen Shoujo" will ride on beautifully decorated floats during the parade. Every year, about 300 to 400 women apply to become Aizen Shoujo, but only eight finalists are selected based on their charm, energy, love of traditional festivals, and ability to participate in all activities. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and be able to wear a yukata independently, reflecting their deep roots in Japanese culture. In addition to the parade, there are festival food stalls, traditional Japanese performances, and sparrow dances. This event marks the true beginning of summer and provides an unforgettable experience for locals and tourists alike.
