June 2025 Packing Party | Markham Public Library - Angus Glen Branch
Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-4)ENDED
Markham
Welcome to the June 2025 Packing Party!
Who wants to go to a fun event where you can meet new friends, have a chance to win a free gift basket, and gain volunteer hours while simultaneously supporting menstruators? We sure do!
Join PERIOD Ontario at the
Angus Glen Library (meeting room AG)
on
National Indigenous Peoples Day (Saturday, June 21st) at 2-4 PM EST
for a Packing Party! It is an exciting event where we will create period packs to donate to menstruators in need. This packing party will focus on supporting Indigenous communities that are more severely affected by period poverty. Studies show that
74%
of Indigenous respondents experience difficulty accessing menstrual products, and those living in rural or Indigenous communities often face
double
the cost for the same items available in urban centres (
Moon Time Connections, 2024
;
NUPGE, 2024
).
What's a Period Pack?
Period packs are paper bags that contain the necessary products to support one menstrual cycle. Ours includes 8 regular pads, 4 overnight pads, 4 liners, an educational menstrual booklet, a sanitary wipe, and an encouraging notecard! We will provide instructions on how to pack a period pack at the party, which will also be found on our social media closer to the event. Volunteers will then split into smaller groups to work together and assemble the period packs!
Why Come?
Once everyone has had a blast, we will be providing FREE snacks and pizza to all participants, along with a chance to win a free gift basket valued at over $50!
Volunteer Hours
As a registered nonprofit, we can provide you with volunteer hours for attending our packing party and supporting our cause. If you attend, you will receive ~2 volunteer hours!
