*StrEams!* -Burton v Carlisle Live On EFL League One 13th Feb 2024 | Carlisle United FC
Mar 24, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Carlisle
Burton Albion will face off against Carlisle United in a highly anticipated EFL League One match on the 13th of February, 2024. The game will take place at the Pirelli Stadium, located in Burton upon Trent. This clash is set to be a significant one, as Burton Albion has the opportunity to extend Carlisle United's losing streak to seven consecutive matches. In their previous outing, Burton Albion secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Bristol Rovers, while Carlisle United suffered a narrow defeat against Portsmouth, succumbing to a 1-0 loss.
Burton Albion's recent trip to Bristol Rovers' Memorial Stadium proved fruitful, with Ciaran Gilligan and Mark Helm leading the team to a two-goal advantage. Although Bristol Rovers' captain, Antony Evans, managed to make the encounter interesting with a goal in the 60th minute, Burton Albion held on to secure the win. This victory propelled them to 17th place in the League One standings, ensuring they maintain a four-point lead over the relegation zone.
Despite their recent struggles, Burton Albion's defense has shown signs of improvement, conceding only two goals in their last five league games at the Pirelli Stadium. However, a defeat against Lincoln City earlier in the month interrupted their four-game unbeaten streak at home. In contrast, Carlisle United finds themselves at the bottom of the league table, with just 20 points from 31 games. Surviving relegation seems highly unlikely for the team unless they can produce a miraculous turnaround.
Carlisle United's recent encounter with Portsmouth showcased their resilience, as they put up a strong fight against the league leaders. However, a goal in the 62nd minute from Portsmouth's Paddy Lane dashed their hopes of securing a positive result. Carlisle United's lack of goals in this match marked the first time they failed to score in 2024. Moreover, the team has only managed to accumulate one point from their last nine away games in League One.
In their previous meeting with Burton Albion at Brunton Park in October, Carlisle United emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. However, this success was their first in three attempts against Burton Albion. As both teams prepare for their upcoming clash, it remains to be seen whether Carlisle United can repeat their earlier triumph or if Burton Albion will continue their recent run of solid performances.
