Join the exciting Fun 3-Day Red Cross Lifeguard Training - Blended Learning event in Costa Mesa at the Mesa Verde County Club. This comprehensive training program will equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to save lives poolside. The training takes place from April 13th to April 20th. Prior to the in-person training, participants will complete a 7-hour blended learning course. On April 13th and 14th, classes will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm. On test out day, April 20th, the session will start at 9:00am and end at 1:00pm, with the possibility of finishing earlier depending on individual skills and test-taking abilities. To be eligible for the course, participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of the class. Additionally, they must present their blended coursework certificate of completion to the instructor at the beginning of the in-person training. The course also includes swim tests, including a 300-yard nonstop swim, treading water for 2 minutes, and a timed weight-retrieval drill. Please note that refunds will not be given if participants are unable to meet the prerequisites. It is highly recommended to condition yourself ahead of the class if you are not already accustomed to swimming. In terms of what to bring, participants should have their blended learning certificate, a competitive style swimsuit, snacks/lunch, water, sun protection, towels, and extra clothing and layers. In this 2 day intensive seasoned host Dustyn Willoughby will share techniques on hosting several types of staged performances helping you stand onstage with confidence and comfort. This will culminate in a show you will co-host as a class. (This is not just a short form hosting class but there will be segments on hosting short form.) Starting with the basics of public speaking Dustyn will show you the fine details of preparing like a professional using visualization to build onstage confidence and gaining the audiences’ trust. From walking onstage and greeting the crowd to saying “thank you, goodnight” Dustyn will take you through the hosting experience step by step. At the end of the second day the class will host segments of an improvised variety show. No improv experience is necessary. About the instructor: Dustyn Willoughby has been performing comedy onstage since 2011 when he read his first jokes at a music only open mic in Lake Forest, California. Within a few weeks Dustyn became the host of the open mic and over the next few years Dustyn founded and hosted multiple open mics in Orange County. Dustyn began training improv at Spectacles Improv Engine and became host of “The Orange County Cagematch”, co-host of variety show “Blammo!”, host for the long running house short form team “The Lobby”, and became the House Manager. Once we re-group with everyone at the top of the climb we begin to descend down San Joaquin road. This is a fast descent. We ask that slower riders stay off to the right side of the road, and faster riders pass safely on the left of those riders. After the descent we make our way back to the store! When we arrive back at the store please take one donut in order to allow all riders the chance to get one. Then make your way over to the coffee line! The Improv Collective's Intro to Improv class will teach you the basics of improv and provide you the skill to perform with confidence. DONUT 🍩 RIDE🚲 Meet 7:30 am @specializedcostamesa Roll out at 8 am Return to the store around 9:45/9:50am -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our favorite monthly community ride returns! We are so excited to see everyone for our ride through Newport Coast! This ride is non-drop ride that averages ~14/15mph over the course of ~20 miles. This ride includes two re-group stops. One at the Corona Del Mar lookout off of Ocean Blvd and the other at the top of Newport Coast Drive off of San Joaquin road. Total elevation of this ride is roughly 950 feet with Newport Coast being the only major climb of the ride. The climb is self-paced and a great way to test our your climbing legs. Once we re-group with everyone at the top of the climb we begin to descend down San Joaquin road. This is a fast descent. We ask that slower riders stay off to the right side of the road, and faster riders pass safely on the left of those riders. After the descent we make our way back to the store! When we arrive back at the store please take one donut in order to allow all riders the chance to get one. Then make your way over to the coffee line! Cafe Sevilla is home to the longest-running Flamenco Dinner show in Southern California. Every Saturday night, we offer a three-course paella dinner menu combined with a two-part Flamenco Dance performance and intermission featuring a belly dancer or other special guest performer. Our dancers are at the top of their field, having been trained in Spain and teaching their own Flamenco classes. These shows are a sensory indulgence of sight, sound and taste, leaving our guests with a piece of truly Spanish culture.
