About Abi Farrell Abi Farrell was raised in rural Oxfordshire on a soundtrack of vocal powerhouses spanning the likes of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Candi Staton and Carole King. Named 'an artist on the rise.. a considerable talent' by Blues and Soul Magazine, Abi is known for her effortlessly pure voice and lyrical dexterity, which is equally at home creating moving, introspective ballads as it is high-energy, empowering anthems. Lyrically, her music explores themes of identity, self-esteem, self-worth, empowerment, gender equality, mental health and social mobility. With an appeal that transcends generations, Abi's voice and songwriting explore the experience of navigating the world as a fiercely ambitious young woman from a working-class background. Abi's music has been consistently embraced by the UK & international soul scene since releasing a string of singles in collaboration with Big AC Records, including 'I Will See You Through', 'Empowered', 'Don't Follow Me' and 'Stepping Out Of Your Shadow', which were produced by Mitch Ayling of The Milk and pressed to limited edition 7 vinyl. Her releases have been championed by Craig Charles on BBC Radio 2 and BBC 6 Music, who praised Abi's writing 'proper soul for the 21st century'. 'Don't Follow Me', a social commentary on misogyny, was premiered by Robert Elms on BBC Radio London and subsequently led to Abi performing the track on BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends. This masterclass will set you firmly on your way to being a crime writer. Your tutor – a former police chief superintendent and now crime writer – will guide you through the nature of the genre and its sub genre, understanding the world of crime, villainy and policing, then we will get on to the actual writing. We will work through how to develop gripping characters, settings, how to plot, write authentic dialogue, and craft twists, arcs and endings. Come prepared for a blistering day and armed with all the questions you’ve always wanted to ask someone who’s done it for real and now makes it up for fiction. The session will be run by Graham Bartlett. After thirty years of policing, whereby Graham Bartlett became Brighton and Hove police’s chief superintendent, a senior homicide detective and a public order and firearms commander, he is now a best-selling crime fiction and non-fiction author, and police and crime advisor. These classes are for you to focus on the experience of dancing, rather than what it looks like. Centred on enjoyment, with medium length dance sequences, and plenty of time for learning and embodying the movement. Previous dance experience is not required for you to attend this class. All my classes are danced in my own contemporary style, which has emerged from my years of training in Ballet, Flying Low, Release, Cunningham, Graham, Tap, Jazz and others… Each class contains warm up, teaching and dancing of phrases, cool down, finished with a relaxation. Check out my Contemporary page for more details. Who will be teaching this workshop? Nathan Krifdom is a dance teacher, choreographer, and performer, currently teaching in Brighton. A year after graduating uni in Dance and Choreography, he launched his dance teaching business. Through his teaching he aims to connect people to their bodies in new ways, teach students to dance in a sustainable way; so their bodies stay healthy and happy for longer, bring new people into the exciting world of dance who may not have tried it before, and spark passion and joy in his students, as well as much more... Nathan is also an Advanced Lvl 3 Reiki practitioner, and has been working with Reiki for over six years.
