The Wizard of Oz - SAS Faculty and Staff Musical (23 Jan 2025) | Drama Theater
Jan 23, 2025 (UTC+8)ENDED
Woodlands
L. Frank Baum’s beloved story of a young girl’s adventure in a magical land has been entertaining audiences for over a century. MGM’s blockbuster 1939 film adaptation, featuring the timeless songs of Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, along with the brilliant instrumental music of Herbert Stothart, elevated the popular novel to even greater heights. This stage adaptation, featuring the characters and celebrated songs from the film, brings the wondrous Land of Oz to life in a jubilant theatrical experience.
Join Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” through the Land of Oz, determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help them get home. Of course, along the way, Dorothy encounters witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey to happiness – and self-awareness – is a glowing testament to friendship, understanding and hope in a world filled with both beauty and ugliness. Anu Vaidyanathan Stand up Comedy Tour | The Attic Southampton
Feb 8, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Totton
Anu Vaidyanathan stand up comedy at The Attic in Southampton Saturday 8th FebruaryThis is a new material night from Anu Vaidyanathan whose debut show BC:AD has now toured worldwide. BC:AD (Before Children, After Diapers) is an English language stand-up comedy show and one mad, mommy's take on how the definitions of words change before and during motherhood. Anu Vaidyanathan stand up comedy tourThrough a number of stories from before she had children and after she changed loads of diapers, survived the institution called marriage and then found herself amidst two short roommates who insist on calling her 'mom', Anu paints a peripatetic picture of the life and times of a comedian, filmmaker and sometime engineer who loves endurance sports, including parenting. Debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2022 selling out most of its box-office run, BC:AD has toured the world including two stops off-Broadway, Europe (Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Munich, Luxembourg, Paris, Krakow, Lisbon, Madrid, Barcelona), UK (London, Cambridge, Rotherham, Sheffield, Bristol, Brighton, Wales) and India (Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai). Audience Reviews Original and engaging show. The hour has passed before you know it. Go and see it whilst you can. - Vanessa Lloyd (UK) A brilliant and hilarious show. Highly recommended! - Anil Kandola (India) An unexpected gem found on the off chance during one of the many sojourns in Edinburgh. Chock full of hilarious connotations about certain states and people in India along with her journey across the world, Anu's show is a refreshing antidote to the normal comedy one would expect to see at such events. Her unabashed manner makes her whole act that much better and means she should (hopefully) become a Fringe regular in years to come. Definitely worth your time to go and see her perform! - Rishi (Edinburgh) Anu tells a woman's story, a travelers story, a mother's story, the human story with humour. She never loses the spice of her south Indian origins but never loses the universality of the human experience. She shows how we chose to tell our stories . We can laugh or cry as we look at our lives. She chooses to laugh and have us all laugh with her. Loved it. - Carolyn Larke (USA) This was my favourite show at fringe this year. Clever, witty and interesting . I would have sat there all day. She needs a bigger venue and a bar in the room so next time I can listen for a couple of hours. I would take my daughter and my fairly sensitive mother and they would both love it. If she isn’t their next year I’m taking legal action!!! - Steven Brown (Edinburgh) This show is so much relatable and it was really fun. Loved every bit of it. - Debjotee Dutta (India) Anu put on a great show, which kept our family glued to their seats the entire time. It's funny, with a great mix about life & global cultures. Clean cut & easy to follow. Would definitely recommend. - Darren Schwab(Berlin) Advance Tickets are £12 in advance only.
Bar opens at 6.30pm with 7pm we open the doors for our Southampton Comedy Club ready for the show starting at 8pm.

The Women in Shooting Guided Round offers a unique opportunity for female shooters to participate in a supervised round with an experienced shotgun coach at Ower Shooting Ground in Copythorne. Taking place on May 22, 2024, from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm, this event allows participants to engage in group discussions, receive valuable tips to enhance their shooting skills, and explore the use of steel cartridges as an alternative to lead shot. Both BASC members and non-members are welcome to join, with ticket prices ranging from £45 to £50. Participants are required to possess a shotgun certificate, bring their own shotgun and cartridges (maximum load 28gm), as well as provide their own eye and ear protection. This guided round is designed to provide a supportive environment for women shooters to refine their techniques, address challenging shooting scenarios, and gain insights to excel on driven bird days.
