HOW IT WORKS All SOS routines are created by the world’s top backing dancers who work with Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, JLo, Little Mix and many more! WHAT TO EXPECT Warm up: We’ll start with a 10 minute warm up including gentle stretches designed for all levels to an incredible playlist guaranteed to get you moving!'Rehearsal':Our goal is to give you the pop diva experience (think Beyoncé!) so just like the Queen, you'll have a rehearsal process wherethe routine will be broken down into bite sized sections of '8 counts' putting moves to music and slowly building up the routine so it's in your body. You can ask as many questions as you want. This is your class, and if you're thinking it, other people will be too! I will also give you those all important VIP dance tips previously reserved for the stars to ensure you feel like the bad b*tch you are when you're on and off the dance floor! 'Performance':Don't worry – you won't need to do any solo's!! The performance section of class is where you dance the whole routine that was taught in class from start to finish with music, turned up to the max! This section of class is where you can really switch off, relax and DANCE! Join us for a three hour workshop in Sprang by Carey Fleiner, senior lecturer in Classical History. Sprang is an ancient textile technique Introduction to Sprang Workshop In this three-hour workshop, we will cover the basics of working with sprang, a warp-only type of plaiting that dates back to prehistoric times. First will be a brief introduction to sprang and its history. Then, working with sustainably coppiced bow frames, we’ll set up a small practice piece to learn the basic Z and S twist interlacing and how to chain off the finished sampler. We will go over finishing methods for completed pieces. Next, students can set up and get started on a small project, for example, a small bag or hairnet. Students will be provided with two skeins of arigumi cotton yarn and their frame so that they can finish their pieces at home if need by. Celebrate your summer in Gunnersbury Park with professional London storyteller, Wendy Shearer. Join the Storytelling with Wendy Shearer: Anansi the spider (Afternoon session) on August 27, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. This session is a fantastic activity for children aged 5-11 years. Wendy Shearer, a well-known storyteller and author, has written several books, including "African and Caribbean Folktales, Myths & Legends." Her storytelling sessions feature traditional Afro-Caribbean trickster tales about Anansi the spider. Anansi is a clever and cunning character known for outsmarting others in various adventures. During the session, Wendy uses beautiful props and traditional music to bring the stories to life. Children can act out characters, contribute their ideas to the stories, and afterward, draw or write about the stories. They can also make their own craft spider to take home. This engaging event encourages creativity and participation. Tickets are £5 per child, with up to two accompanying adults allowed for free. Dr. Bike Sessions in Brixton, London, are organized by Brixton BID in partnership with Cycle Confident. Curator, Kinnari Saraiya, tours 'Fragments of a Panorama' Book your free ticket for a curated tour of arebyte's current exhibition Fragments of a Panorama, led by curator Kinnari Saraiya. Fragments of a Panorama is a kaleidoscope of worlds oscillating between a speculative future and an alternative past, created by visual artist Thiruda (Avinash Kumar) and musician Murthovic (Sri Rama Murthy), and guest curated by Kinnari Saraiya. Since 2016, Murthovic and Thiruda have taken on the role of archivists for their ongoing project, Elsewhere in India, remixing and fragmenting millennia of South Asian cultural traditions, sonic and visual heritage, and classical dances of India. This initiative explores cultural heritage, digital technology, and speculative futures through film, interactive experiences, video games, and sculpture, with Fragments of a Panorama, presented by arebyte gallery, as a commissioned chapter within this broader exploration. The topology of Fragments of a Panorama is built on layers of destruction, construction, and reparation, connecting us to generations past and future.
