Join the UnMuseum Consultation, a thought-provoking event that reimagines the concept of a museum. This event brings together young individuals of color with cultural heritage organizations from Bristol and the South West. It aims to explore the significance of cultural heritage, how it is currently experienced, and how we can preserve it in both physical and digital forms. In 2020, the Black South West Network (BSWN) embarked on a journey to understand the impact of decolonization, diversity, and inclusion within the cultural heritage sector of the South West. Now, with the support of National Heritage Lottery Funding, we are delving deep into the development phase. Our focus is on retelling and reimagining the histories and cultural heritage of racially minoritized communities in the South West, with Olu Osinoiki from Olumedia leading the way. This event offers a unique opportunity for young people of color aged 18-25 to shape an important project from a youth perspective. Additionally, participants will be financially compensated for their time. The agenda includes a focus group discussion about the UnMuseum, along with refreshments and networking opportunities. The 2024 Minnesota Bike Walk Summit on Capitol Hill will be held in Saint Paul on March 14, 2024. This event brings together advocates for bicycles, pedestrians, transit, and active transportation, along with elected leaders and experts, to discuss policy and lobby for issues related to active transportation. The morning sessions will feature speeches from leaders in state and local government, legislators, lobbyists, and other experts. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet directly with their legislators after lunch. The event will provide breakfast and lunch, including vegetarian and vegan options. Even if participants are unable to attend the full summit, they are encouraged to schedule a meeting with their legislator. Youth, women, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, immigrants, and people of color are particularly encouraged to apply for scholarships or travel stipends to help cover the cost of attendance. The summit schedule includes registration and check-in in the morning, followed by the morning sessions and a lunch break. The afternoon will be dedicated to meetings with legislators, with roundtable discussions taking place throughout the day. After the event, there will be an informal gathering at Bad Weather Brewing Company.
