It investigates their relationship through sculpture, drawing and scholarly writing. She is Professor of Research (Innovation & Development) at Leeds Arts University. Her work was recently included in the survey exhibition If Not Now, When? Generations of Women in Sculpture in Britain, 1960–2022 exhibited at The Hepworth Wakefield and Saatchi Gallery London. Griselda Pollock is a feminist, postcolonial and social art historian and curator. Professor emerita of Social and Critical Histories of Art at the University of Leeds, she received CAA Distinguished Feminist Award for Promoting Equality in Art in 2010. Recent publications include Killing Men & Dying Women: Imagining Difference in 1950s New York Painting (Manchester University Press, 2022) and the catalogue for the exhibition she has curated, Medium and Memory (HackelBury Fine Art, London, 2023-2024). Verlag, 2025). Image: Sheila Gaffney, Embodied Dreaming, 4 Oct 2024 - 11 Jan 2025, Blenheim Walk Gallery. Photo: Jules Lister. Information Source: Blenheim Walk Gallery | eventbrite

The Art of Conversation is back with a third season of artist talks, creativity, and coffee! Introducing:Lindsey de Roos Lindsey de Roos is an artist and arts worker based in Tāmaki Makaurau, originally from Cape Town, South Africa. She employs a multidisciplinary approach with a variety of materials, focusing on social activism and exchange. Alongside her artistic practice, she is an art documenter and writer. Recent works include Defining the Means at Window Gallery, and What Are You?, a co-authored contribution to Everything That Moves, Moves Through Another. Through her work, Lindsey aims to engage with complex narratives and foster dialogue around identity and equity. Lindsey will be having a coffee at Daisy Chang, where she will chat about arts documentation and multidisciplinary approaches to social activism - all over a plate of dumplings! About The Art of Conversation This project aims to highlight artists that already have a connection with East Auckland or to bring artists in to build new connections within the East Auckland arts community. Each artist will talk about their arts practice and work in their favourite local cafe. This is a free series for audiences to attend, with the hope that we can break the formal nature of artist talks and support local businesses. All we ask is that when you attend, you purchase a hot or cold drink to support our local and independent cafes! This season of The Art of Conversation will focus on underrepresented forms of artmaking, such as comics, animation and zinemaking with an aim to uplift diverse communities. We hope these conversations will platform alternative ways of storytelling and thinking about arts beyond traditionally Western perspectives. While this is a free event series, there are only limited spaces available - Make sure to reserve your spot now! This is a project funded by Arts Out East, supported by Te Tuhi and the Howick Local Board. Information Source: Jennifer Cheuk | eventbrite
