NAfro Dance is pleased to present 'Serengeti', a provocative and exciting dance piece. Choreographer Casimiro Nhussi, challenges the audience to DO SOMETHING about environmental issues facing all living creatures. I’m living in a sad and terrifying nightmare. Somehow, every time I try to wake, the nightmare is still there. I see the land of my birth – Africa - and everything has changed. The land is red and dry, the rivers too, the trees are naked, and the animals are skinny and sad. There isn’t enough green land for all of us. There is a struggle between the natural, wild world and the domestic, structured world. Between them and us. Some of the animals are dying out. Some of the animals are trapped in cages and exported to places unknown. They are crying for a green land and for their freedom. But for us who go to see the animals in their cages, the cry for freedom, has become a sound of pleasure, a sound of amusement. This nightmare has to stop. Because I don’t think it is only my nightmare, I think it is humankind’s nightmare. We need to wake up and do something about it. We have to learn to live together to co-exist. -CN- IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Come early so you can find parking. Box Office opens one hour before the event starts if you prefer to purchase tickets at the door (some will always be available). Seating in the theatre starts 20 minites before the show begins. You can show your e-ticket on your phone or print it if you prefer.
