Roedd 2024 yn flwyddyn nodedig i'r band. Fe wnaethant berfformio pedair sioe yn SXSW yn Texas, cyflwyno perfformiad rhagorol yng Ngŵyl y Dyn Gwyrdd – a gafodd ei ganmol fel un o eiliadau mwyaf cofiadwy yr ŵyl – ac ennill eu trydydd enwebiad am Wobr Gerddoriaeth Cymru, gyda pherfformiad byw yn y seremoni. Pictish Trail Yn dod â dimensiwn hollol newydd i'r noson mae Pictish Trail sydd wedi rhychu ei lwybr ei hun yn benderfynol, gan greu catalog unigryw o recordiadau a pherfformiadau'n gyson, tra'n osgoi glasbrint y canwr-gyfansoddwr rhagweladwy o blaid rhywbeth annifyr o ddiddordeb. Mae Pictish Trail wedi teithio'r byd fel prif berfformiwr ac fel cefnogaeth i artistiaid gan gynnwys Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, Slow Club a KT Tunstall, ac mae wedi perfformio mewn gwyliau gan gynnwys Glastonbury, Field Day, Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, The Edinburgh Fringe a Green Man. // A night of magical musical mayhem with HMS Morris and Pictish Trail . Thursday 24/04/25 Doors: 7pm Tickets £8 / £10 HMS Morris Known for their innovative and vibrant live shows, HMS Morris are a bilingual, female-fronted art-rock powerhouse from Cardiff. 2024 was a landmark year for the band. They performed four shows at SXSW in Texas, delivered a standout performance at Green Man Festival – hailed as one of the festival’s most memorable moments – and earned their third Welsh Music Prize nomination, complete with a live performance at the ceremony. Pi ctish Trail Bringing a whole new dimension to the night is Pictish Trail who has resolutely furrowed his own path, steadily creating a unique catalogue of recordings & performances, while eschewing the blueprint of the predictable singer-songwriter in favour of something untidily intriguing. Pictish Trail has toured the world both as a headliner and as support for artists including Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, Slow Club and KT Tunstall, and he has performed at festivals including Glastonbury, Field Day, Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, the Edinburgh Fringe and Green Man. Bilingual Listing - Please Scroll Down for English Text Port Talbot Gotta Banksy Rhagfyr 2018, mae Banksy yn cyflwyno anrheg Nadolig unigryw i Bort Talbot pan mae un o’i furluniau yn ymddangos ar garej gweithiwr dur lleol gan roi sylw rhyngwladol i’r dref. 2024, mae Port Talbot yn y newyddion unwaith eto pan mae diwedd cynhyrchu dur drwy ffwrnais chwyth, diwydiant sydd mor hanfodol i’r dref, yn creu cyfnod newydd o ansicrwydd. Yn yr wythnosau ar ôl i waith celf Banksy ymddangos aeth Paul Jenkins a Tracy Harris o gwmni Theatr3 i siarad â phobl y dref. Fe gychwynnodd eu prosiect fel casgliad o ymatebion i’r Banksy cyntaf i ymddangos yng Nghymru, a dros chwe blynedd fe ddatblygodd yn bortread o gymuned ac yn deyrnged i’w hysbryd a’i gwytnwch. Nawr, daw lleisiau’r gymuned honno i flaen y llwyfan, gyda chast o actorion proffesiynol yn adrodd eu geiriau. Mae Port Talbot Gotta Banksy yn ddrama newydd bwysig am bobl, pŵer a chelfyddyd stryd. Mae’n ddathliad o gryfder cymunedau i wrthsefyll holl heriau bywyd. Ymunwch â ni wrth i bobl Port Talbot rannu eu stori nhw yn eu geiriau eu hunain, yn y ddrama bwerus, deimladwy gair-am-air hon. Cefnogir gan National Theatre Studio a gyda chyllid gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru // December 2018, Banksy gifts Port Talbot a unique Christmas present making it an international talking point when one of his murals appears on the garage of a local steelworker. 2024, Port Talbot hits the headlines again with the end of blast furnace steel-making synonymous with the town and the beginning of a new uncertainty. In the weeks after Banksy’s artwork first appeared, Paul Jenkins and Tracy Harris of Theatr3 spoke to people across the town. What began as a project collecting responses to the first Banksy in Wales, over six years became a portrait of a community and a testament to its character and resilience. Now, the voices of this Welsh community take centre stage, their words performed live by a professional cast. Port Talbot Gotta Banksy is an urgent new play about people, power and street art. It’s a celebration of the strength of communities to withstand everything life has to throw at them. Join us as the people of Port Talbot share their story in their own words, in this compelling and compassionate verbatim play. Directed by Paul Jenkins. Mae’n beiriannydd ynni siartredig ac mae ganddo doreth o brofiad yn y diwydiant. Mae’n defnyddio’r profiad hwnnw mewn partneriaethau cydweithredol, megis asesu cyfleoedd ar gyfer ynni adnewyddadwy gyda’r Ymddiriedolaeth Genedlaethol a datblygu offer profi newydd ac arloesol ar gyfer busnesau lleol. “Fe allen ni fod wedi datrys newid hinsawdd 30 mlynedd yn ôl. What is the truth? Join us for a pivotal lecture with Dr David Sprake, who will explore why governments and businesses have been slow to address climate change. Drawing from his extensive research and teaching, Dr Sprake will analyse the natural forces shaping our climate, trace the origins of past climate shifts, and assess whether current changes are driven by human activity. Dr Sprake will provide a clear, evidence-based examination of climate change, addressing and refuting climate denial theories with solid data. This lecture offers a valuable opportunity to gain an accurate understanding of the science, challenge misconceptions, and recognise the urgent need for proactive measures to safeguard our planet's ecosystems, economies, and future. Don't miss this opportunity to get informed, ask questions, and contribute to meaningful solutions. Anyone 14 years + years of age with an interest in research, science, the environment and climate change is welcome to attend. ABOUT THE SPEAKER David has dedicated over 20 years to contemplating, researching, and teaching about climate change, renewable energy, and carbon emissions. David is programme leader for the renewable and sustainable engineering degree and the low carbon degree apprenticeship. He has previously won Best Lecturer and Sustainability champion, as voted for by students. He is also a University Green champion. David’s PhD focused on how large housing estates can be built or retrofitted to become carbon neutral with the use of renewable energy, energy storage, and smart grids. He is a chartered energy engineer with a wealth of industry experience, which he uses in collaborative partnerships such as assessing renewable energy opportunities with the National Trust and developing innovative new testing equipment for local businesses. “We could have fixed climate change 30 years ago. Misinformation has played a part in holding up humanity taking it seriously and fixing it.” Please contact researchoffice@wrexham.ac.uk with any queries.
