The Safeguarding 1 Online Workshop is a comprehensive Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course that can be completed conveniently in just 3 hours. This workshop, delivered on line, is a must for all Coaches, Children's Officers, and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP). It aims to educate participants on the implementation of best practices in safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children involved in sport.
The course focuses on the Sport Ireland Code, which has been adopted and implemented by governing bodies of sports, clubs, local sports partnerships, and community/voluntary groups since 2000. The adoption of this code at the grassroots level has resulted in the protection of young people and leaders, creating a safe and inclusive environment for all.
By completing this workshop, adults can act as positive role models for young people, ensuring their early experiences in sport are positive and enjoyable. Regardless of ability, gender, social class, race, or any other factors, it is important to provide young people with the necessary skills and support to remain involved in sports and physical activities throughout their lives.
The Safeguarding 1 Online Workshop will be conducted through the Zoom video and audio conferencing service. Participants are required to have a Zoom account, which can be easily downloaded from www.zoom.us. Prior to the workshop, Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Sports Partnership will send registered participants the link to the Zoom meeting for security reasons, along with all the course material. It is essential not to share this link with others, as only registered participants will be admitted to the scheduled Zoom meeting.
By registering for this workshop, participants' name, email, and date of birth will be shared with Sport Ireland for the purpose of issuing certificates of completion. This ensures that participants receive recognition for their commitment to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children.

Individuals with hearing aids can easily connect to the loop devices, while those who are hard of hearing and do not have hearing aids can use their own or earpieces provided by ADI. Please note that booking is essential for this tour, and it is important for hearing aid users to have access to their T setting in order to connect to the tour guide equipment.
