Mark
The Villa Victoria Select Concert Choir is a choral ensemble made up of students in grades 6-12, who have auditioned for the Junior and Senior Choruses, Middle and High School Honors Choirs, and High School A Capella group. Members of this choir have sung in annual winter and spring school concerts, as well as various community events in the Penn-Jersey area, such as the Ewing Veteran’s Day Memorial Service and Trenton Thunder baseball games. Under the direction of Mrs. Pilchman, Villa Victoria singers are trained in varying levels of music theory and ear training and have sung in several foreign languages including Latin, French, Spanish, German, and Swahili. All singers also are experienced in singing complex harmonies ranging from 2 to 6 parts. In addition to their choral experience, many Villa students participate in the Middle and High School instrumental programs, studying strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion instruments for their respective ensembles. Katrina Pilchman is a graduate of Boston University, where she studied vocal performance at the undergraduate level. She received her Certification in Music Education and completed her Masters in Multicultural Education at Eastern University in Pennsylvania. For the past 10 years, Katrina has served as the head of the music department at Villa Victoria Academy, directing their band, choir, and musical theater programs. Directing the Select Concert Choir on this international trip is Ms. Olivia Quinn. Olivia is a proud graduate of VVA (Class of 2018) and received her Bachelors of Music from Temple University. Ms. Quinn currently works as an administrative assistant and also runs her own private music studio where she gives vocal and piano instruction. Last spring, she directed two of Villa’s extracurricular choirs and musically directed their spring musical, The Lighting Thief. Olivia is very grateful for the opportunity to oversee Villa’s Select Concert Choir this year. Mrs. Pilchman taught Oliva Quinn as a student when she attended Villa Victoria Academy and directed her in many choirs, musicals throughout her time at school.
