SF Bicycle Coalition Smart City Cycling 2: Maneuvering is a crucial on-bike class designed to equip participants with the necessary bike-handling skills to confidently and safely navigate through city traffic. This class, which is the second installment of the Smart City Cycling series, will take place in a car-free space. Prior completion of Smart City Cycling 1: Classroom or Intro to Biking in SF is a mandatory prerequisite for this course. If you haven't taken the prerequisite, you can register for it at sfbike.org/edu. During this class, you will learn a range of essential topics, including riding with one hand to signal, maintaining a straight line while scanning over your shoulder, and executing crash-avoidance maneuvers. By the end of this course, you will be well-prepared for Smart City Cycling 3: Road Practice, where you will have the opportunity to apply your newfound skills on actual streets. It is essential for all participants to either bring their own bike or arrange for a bike rental in advance, as rental options will not be available at the class. If you need assistance in renting a bike due to financial constraints, please contact cecilia@sfbike.org for potential funding opportunities. Cocréa is not just a training ground for dancers, but also a path of personal development. Wren LaFeet, a somatic permissionary with over 24 years of dancing experience, will create a trauma-sensitive, consent informed environment for participants to practice embodied listening with themselves and others. Through the structured and mindful approach of Cocréa, participants will learn to cultivate presence, intimacy, and freedom in their movement.
The workshop will be divided into two days.
