Dr Harper's extensive experience and expertise in the field will be showcased as he reflects on exciting developments and shares his findings. As a respected clinical advisor to NICE (the National Institute Health and Care Excellence), Dr Harper's research on patient warming during surgery has contributed to national and international guidelines. Additionally, his work on cold-water adaptation has led him to explore the benefits of outdoor swimming as a means to reduce surgical complications. Notably, Dr Harper's collaboration with Dr Chris van Tulleken and Professor Mike Tipton's team at the Extreme Environments Lab in Portsmouth resulted in a successful clinical trial using sea swimming as an intervention for anxiety and depression. This groundbreaking study was featured on the BAFTA award-nominated BBC program "The Doctor Who Gave Up Drugs."
