The Ambivalent Archives Network is hosting an event called "Telepathic and Ghostly Archives" on February 22, 2024, from 17:00 to 19:00. The event will take place in Room SG1 at the Alison Richard Building in Cambridge. The Ambivalent Archives Network aims to explore various affective and critical engagements with archives. The network emerged from a reading group held in Lent 2023, which brought together undergraduates, postgraduates, staff members, local archivists, librarians, and visiting academics. The group discussed topics such as the constitution of archives, the Black transatlantic archive, queer archival feelings, and embodiment in the archive. The network will continue to examine these topics, as well as textual and literary archives, postcolonial archives, intimate archiving, and community archiving. The sessions will include reading groups, speaker events with academics, activists, and writers, and creative workshops led by visiting artists. Participants will be encouraged to engage in their own personal archival practices, such as photography, sound recording, and collaging. The workshops, along with the reading sessions and speaker events, aim to provide a space for reflection on archival practices and critical imaginaries.
