The Date Samurai Festival has been planned and run by citizen volunteers since 1973 as a citizen participation event that inherits pioneering history and traditions. In addition to the "Samurai Floats" with gorgeous samurai floats and powerful dances, and the "Equestrian Parade" with horseback samurai performances, the main venue, the "Omatsuri Hiroba" with food stalls, beer gardens, and a market corner popular with children, is set up in the square in front of the main venue, the Date Historical Mori Cultural Center, and you can enjoy it from the night before the festival.
