Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu was our 5th hotel in this journey, and honestly, it set the bar pretty high. The location was hard to beat — right opposite Matsue Station, and it could be easily reached through an underpass, which was especially helpful when travelling with big luggage or during bad weather. One big surprise for us was the check-in experience. We arrived at the hotel at around 11.30am, fully expecting to leave our luggage and return later, but we were told that our room was already ready and we could occupy it immediately instead of waiting until the usual 3pm check-in time. It also seemed that they upgraded our booking to a Standard Double Room, which made the experience even better. Two thumbs up for this hotel. Even though we had booked a Standard Single Room, the space genuinely surprised us. The room came with a queen bed and was more than comfortable for two of us. We were able to fully open our large suitcases without feeling cramped — something that is not always guaranteed in Japanese hotels. The room layout was practical and well thought out, with a proper TV console and work desk with a chair, a single sofa with a small table, an air purifier, and a fridge. The TV model was a bit outdated, though it did not affect our stay. The bathroom was also spacious, with a proper bathtub that allowed us to stretch our legs comfortably after long days out. The bed was very comfy, and they provided two pillows for each of us, which made our sleep even better. Amenities and bottled water were provided at the lobby area, which we found convenient. We paid around SGD159 (JPY19,000) for two nights, and it was excellent value. Overall, it was one of the best hotels in this journey, and we would gladly stay here again.

I often travel for nearly a month, and accommodation in outlying islands in Japan must use different app websites to find more choices and more reasonable prices. This one night in Hezhuang, the country of the West Isle of Hidden Island, is the best experience of this 19-day trip. This villa is located halfway up the mountain, overlooking the sea, the mountains and forests, the bay, the view is great! Hotel style management professional in place. I took the bus to the villa by myself. Although there is a small hillside, it is actually acceptable! If you want to take a relaxing vacation, you can also ask the hotel service staff to go to the port to connect! I live in a Japanese-style room with a large window facing the sea and a great view! The hotel staff is kind and happy to explain the nearby attractions and the breakfast meal that provides a connection service is also great.

The hotel is located near Matsue station. The front desk agents were very polite and did their best to talk to me, despite my very broken Japanese. Guests are given a locker, protected by a keycard. The locker itself was good enough for me, who took only a conventional backpack and a pair of shoes, but might not be enough for those who are not traveling light like that. The bathrooms were shared and quite clean, fully furnished with amenities for showers and personal hygiene. WiFi was included and it was quite decent for general use, even when inside the shared bedroom. The bed capsule had a pillow and a blanket, lights and power outlets for phones. I had more space than I imagined, enough for me to sit on the bed. The only downside of this room type was air circulation, probably due to the hot climate that's been the standard here in Japan lately, but I think the fans could work more efficiently or the capsules could use an AC outlet. Other than that, I recommend this location and will certainly stay with them again.

This was a very nice hotel. The bed was very comfortable and had a large window which was great for letting the light inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The area was quiet. There was one tiny issue where I could hear a buzz noise from outside but that was blocked out when the television was on.

This is probably the most cost-effective hotel I've stayed in during my dozen visits to Japan. It includes three breakfasts for two adults and one child. The mixed rice and freshly made Izumo soba noodles are all delicious. Free probiotic drinks are provided in the morning, free cold drinks are provided in the afternoon, free ramen is provided after 9:30 pm, and pear pudding is provided in the room refrigerator. Although the bathroom is not big, it actually has a TV, and two washbasins inside and outside are very convenient. The sound insulation and hygiene are also great. It's not far from the JR station, and it's less than ten minutes' walk to the Acupuncture Lake. It's so nice to take a cup of hotel coffee and sit by the lake after breakfast.

A hotel that is convenient. There is an articial spring in the basement that closes at 1am. Good for people who have got a long day out. The bedding is clean but a bit yellowish. Very polite and good hotel staff. They let us store the luggage for two nights while we r away and will come back to stay on the 3rd night.

This Showa-era business hotel is right outside Matsue Station's South Exit. The lobby is sunken, which might be a bit inconvenient for those with heavy luggage. The room facilities are quite old, there's no outlet by the bed, and power is activated by an old-fashioned key card system (or rather, a key). The large public bath on the top floor wasn't open, and the elevator is also very small. When you go out, you need to hand your key to the front desk, and when you return, you show a card with your room number to retrieve your key and meal voucher. They offer free breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a buffet with limited options, and for dinner, you can choose between a curry set meal or a daily Japanese-style set. All in all, for just over 200 a night, including breakfast and dinner, what more could you ask for? If it doesn't mind my budget, I won't mind its age.

Very pleasantly surprised, the room was very comfortable, the sea was outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the private soup pool was great to watch the sunset, and the minibar was free in the first round and the local sake was delivered. The dinner was great and the price was right. But there are 8 rooms that are not very good for weekends and need to be early in advance. Since there is nothing to eat nearby, it is best to book dinner on the official website, and you can make a rice ball to take away after eating rice. The breakfast is also very generous, it is Japanese style, and it is very full. The station is inconvenient to the hotel. It is best to rent a car at Izumo Station. If you take JR to Oda, you can taxi but it is difficult to take a taxi. You can let the hotel help you book a taxi.

It’s really a very good hotel. I didn’t expect anything from Shimagen, but from the beginning of landing at Izumo Airport, all the way to the hotel, I met very warm and friendly people. The staff of the bridge management were very enthusiastic and responsible. The design and facilities of the hotel can be said that I have lived in the top three in all Japanese hotels. The design is obviously very attentive, convenient and practical, not fancy, simple and generous, and the room is really clean. The hotel is on the right hand side of the station and the traffic is convenient. The reception staff at the front desk were not only enthusiastic and patient, but also specially printed the Chinese version of the hotel guide, moved, great praise! ! !

Suitenkaku was our first stay in a Ryokan. Those who want to visit Tottori, Izumo and Sakaiminato will find Matsue well located, while the Ryokan is next door to the Ichibata railway deserving the Izumo Taisha. The room was renovated and very spacious, offering a direct view to the lake. Above all, the staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. Real Omotenashi ! We are fully satisfied with our stay. Will repeat for our next stay in the area.
