"We stayed as a family of three, including an elementary school-aged child.
We paid the child's rate, but there were no amenities for the children and they had to sleep in the same bed as us, which was quite difficult with an older child. We didn't need amenities for everyone, but I would have liked at least towels for everyone.
The room and bathroom were spacious, clean, luxurious, and comfortable."

"Excellent! The location is fantastic, right on Ookaido Street, meaning you can shop comfortably protected from both sun and rain. The onsen (hot spring bath) on the upper floor was exceptionally clean and delightful. They also offer free laundry washing, with drying available for 100 yen. Step right outside, and you'll find the tram station and a bustling food street. Virtually all of Matsuyama's highly recommended restaurants are within easy walking distance. Cannot recommend enough!"

"I booked a Japanese-style room. The room was spacious and very clean, and came with complimentary snacks, sake, and orange juice. Both breakfast and dinner were fantastic. Dinner was a 10-course Kaiseki meal, and every dish was delicious. Breakfast also offered a wide variety of choices, with the seafood donburi being particularly outstanding. There were four different baths to choose from. Overall, I felt it offered excellent value for money."

"Another JR Clement hotel along the way of our cycling Shikoku which is met with the same quality level as expected. Great location, clean room and excellent staff services. We arrived the hotel at around 12:30pm. Although check in time should be 3pm but we are given the room after a hard day riding in the rain. Good value for money too.
Breakfast is very good, just what we need to finish off our last leg back to Matsuyama."

"As of July 11th, the hotel was undergoing renovations, so I couldn't use the breakfast service. They offered a bento box instead, but apparently, you need to request it at least 2 days in advance.
Like most Japanese hotels, the room was small, and it was hard to move around once I opened my large suitcase.
There were hairs in the bathtub, which made me deduct two stars for cleanliness.
The staff were all friendly, but I was aware there was a welcome drink, and they didn't offer it to me. On the first-floor lobby, there are free amenities and a drink vending machine.
The location is absolutely fantastic. However, the soundproofing isn't great. If you talk a little loudly, you can hear everything."

The room was spacious and clean. The furniture was stylish and made me feel relaxed. The presence of a sauna was a big plus. Having the toilet separate from the bathroom was also nice.
Location
I think it's in a good location for sightseeing in the city.
Also, since the hotel is on the 8th floor of a department store, it was convenient for eating and buying souvenirs.
Parking
I parked in the adjacent multi-story parking garage. There was a connecting walkway, so getting around was convenient."

"A sparkling new hotel with onsen and free flow welcome drinks (beer is limited to 1 per pax) but was still great. We stayed as a group of cyclist after completing the Shimanami kaido and the hotel was a great addition to end the ride. The onsen was heaven. The hotel is within minutes from the Station and bus stop, so definitely a plus. Eateries was just across the road with many options. Breakfast was simple but you can't beat it for the price."

If you're coming from Matsuyama Port, you can take the tram from Takahama Station directly to the hotel. The facilities are quite new as it just recently opened. Every afternoon, guests can enjoy complimentary welcome drinks, and there's free ice cream in the evenings, which is a great draw. The hotel's location is excellent for getting around; Matsuyama-shi Station, which has many buses to Shikoku, Tokyo, Osaka, and Okayama, is right downstairs.

I stayed here as part of my Tokyo Love Story pilgrimage. The facilities, hygiene, and environment were all absolutely perfect, truly impeccable. The only issue was that when I booked, it showed no breakfast included, but the reservation slip provided by the front desk indicated breakfast. I returned the breakfast voucher to the front desk and asked them to double-check, as 3000 yen isn't a small amount. The front desk said they would verify and call my room, but I never heard back, even until check-out. For a hotel of this caliber, I really think this is unacceptable, especially since this was the part I was most looking forward to in Matsuyama. However, despite this minor flaw, the rest of my experience was absolutely perfect.

NoiTabiThis is a very old, long-established hotel. The prices are affordable, and the staff provides excellent service. The dinner buffet offers a wide variety of choices, and the grilled meats in the buffet line are incredibly delicious – tender and not at all *****. There are several onsen (hot springs) to choose from, but the bathing areas are outside the building, so it can be a bit chilly. The hotel also has a museum and library, adding to its charming atmosphere. There's even live piano music in the evening, which is fantastic.

The JR Clement Inn is next door to the train station which is very nice if you're in town due to the Shimanami Kaido trail. Given the price point of the hotel, it delivers. They offered free drinks in the evening, including sake, and while we did not have their breakfast buffet, it appeared to be very good. Rooms were clean and spacious and location is very tough to beat.

They treat Western guests with far more enthusiasm. When checking in alongside Western guests, the front desk staff only escorted them to their floor, completely ignoring Asian guests like me. It's 2026, and this kind of preferential treatment for Westerners is so out of touch and frankly, a bit embarrassing. On top of that, the duvet cover was torn. Is the hotel really struggling that much? 😓 I'm staying here for three nights purely because I can't be bothered to switch hotels. Matsuyama Castle is quite nice, though. As an established hotel in Matsuyama, I'd hope for a bit more class and professionalism. Also, the room is a bit cramped; it's difficult to open a 30-inch suitcase.

Staying in Comfort Hotel Matsuyama was one of the best experiences I had for my trip in Shikoku. Here are what I like about it:
1. Spacious room and new facilities (the hotel smells good as well haha)
2. Excellent location with nearby tram & train stations and 7-11 stores.
3. Great breakfast & friendly staffs.
I will definitely stay here again if I ever come back to Matsuyama.
