Silvermine Beach Resort

Islands District
Resort is an inflated term. Pool closed, spa closed, rooms are upstairs but there is no elevator so be ready to carry your bags. Small washer and dryer in the sauna room, outdated fitness equipment. Weird 'token' system for using the 'resort' things like washer or sauna.Interesting little game area downstairs, a couple kayaks and bikes to rent. Few real amenities that would make this a ”resort”. It's a decent hotel. The rooms are clean but the windows don't open so it gets very stuffy, the fridge froze everything and the bathroom is tiny and dated. My view was gross, so I kept the shade down. When the tide is out there is a beach, it is close to the ferry pier and a very pretty view when the construction is not going. The sun rises right in front of the hotel! Restaurant has a large menu for dinner, but only one choice for breakfast (set meal or nothing). What saves this place is the staff! They are wonderful, lovely people!

The room is superb, with big area suitable for family. Clean and great seaview, big swimming pool. There is bus stop just outside the hotel with bus at affordable price to travel to and fro airport. Also free shuttle bus provided by hotel to MTR stations. Toothbrush and toothpaste need to purchase from counter, no mini mart nearby, only vending machine beside hotel lift at lobby selling snacks and drinks at high price. The coordinator at lobby is a friendly Malaysian aunty, very helpful and can communicate easily, but customer service at counter not so friendly.
Two MacDonnell Road

Central
The hotel positions itself as a 4-star establishment, but it falls short of that mark. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Location: The location is excellent, if you don't mind a steep uphill walk. However, the entire island is built on different levels, which isn't a negative but rather a positive – a daily workout! There's a bus stop right by the hotel, making it easy to reach the metro instead of walking up and down, straining your leg muscles. Next door is a botanical and zoological garden where you can take a stroll. By the way, entry is free. A 10-minute walk down the hill leads to the cable car ”tram” stop for a trip to Victoria Peak. Check-in: Check-in was fast, but a USD 300 deposit is required, which isn't mentioned on either the trip.com website or the hotel's website. If you need an adapter for your electronic devices, ask for one right away – the receptionist won't offer it. Room: The room is relatively clean, though I did find some hair in the kitchen and on the bedding. For Hong Kong, the room is spacious, but there's nowhere to store a suitcase. You can set the temperature on the air conditioner, but it doesn't work. It only blows cold air, making the room humid. Kitchen: The kitchen is minimally equipped, but it's sufficient. However, upon check-in, they warn you that the stove can only be used for reheating food, not cooking, as the fire alarm system is very sensitive and might activate the siren due to hot steam. You must turn on the exhaust fan to full power and the air conditioner to avoid triggering the alarm. Why bother having a kitchen at all? Bathroom: The same situation as with the kitchen – you need to close the door and turn on the air conditioner at full power while showering to avoid the fire alarm being triggered by steam from the bathroom. The shower hose started leaking on the second day of my stay. It was replaced with a new one, which also leaked. When the technician replaced the hose, did he check if the equipment was working properly? I doubt it. Breakfast: Breakfast is only served from a menu, which is quite limited. It's delicious, but not diverse. Is this the service you'd expect from a 4-star hotel? The breakfast organization is chaotic – staff running around and clanging dishes. Two slow coffee machines and one toaster keep guests waiting in line. By the way, there are plastic mugs for tea and coffee. The only fruit options are two types of apples – red and green. Service: The service is polite, but I'd say it's ”on demand.” You need to ask for shampoo, shower gel, and dishwashing liquid to be refilled. The housekeeping, for some reason, doesn't notice the need to replenish hygiene products in the bathroom and kitchen. Environmentalism: As in all of Hong Kong, they no longer provide water in plastic bottles. That's good, but come up with an alternative so guests don't have to go to the store for water. In my opinion, this environmental concern is simply an opportunity to reduce service costs while maintaining high accommodation prices. Speaking of breakfast again, the jam and butter are provided in small plastic containers, just like on airplanes. Is this really about caring for the environment? Conclusion: Overall, it's a good choice if you're not bothered by the minor service inconsistencies and if you don't have high expectations for a 4-star hotel. If you're visiting Hong Kong, I'd recommend Two MacDonell Road.

Room is as per advertised. I measured myself and the square footage of 16 m2 is accurate. The good service would be the cleaners. Don't expect top notch service from the front desk. If you sit at the lobby, you can hear a lot of complaints from the front desk talking about their customers' request. Talking bad about your customers are never a good things especially more in front of other customers. Location is good, with a bit walking require to MTR station. There is a bus station directly in front of the Hotel. You can take bus 101 to Central.
Royal Plaza Hotel

Mong Kok
I am a loyal Royal Plaza Hkg guest and i have stayed more than 10 times over the years. Love the spacious room, perfect for our family of 4. This trip , our family went to Shenzhen first before Hong Kong and was disappointed to find out that Royal Plaza Hkg cannot match the comfort level of a 4* hotel we stayed in Shenzhen for 2/3 of the price. 1. The bathroom is dated and shower water pressure is super low. Oh, and the hair dryer …. i think it is product of the 80s. (My last hotel provides dyson) 2. the free shuttle service to tsim sar zui no longer available. 3. bed and pillows were comfortable, just the warm room (though i have adjusted to the lowest temperature possible) marred the experience of a good night sleep (for me). It was fine during the day, it warmer n stuffier during the wee hours. Like it or not, definitely a change of temperature before and after sleep.

HongKong International Airport
My daughter and I had 10 hours layover in HK and decided to book a hotel near the airport. This hotel is perfect for its location, less than 10 mins away by taxi and offers FREE airport pick up/drop off service. The room is relatively small but cosy and clean. The only thing I did not like is that they do not provide bottle of water in the room, however they provide an empty bottle that you can refill outside the room (which I couldn’t figure out where, since the hotel is big so I just ended up heating tap water using the kettle 😅) Nevertheless, I liked that this hotel is accessible and near, less hassle if you have a super early flight the next day. 100% recommended! 😉
Harbour Plaza North Point

North Point and Quarry Bay
I recently stayed at the Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel on 31/12/2024 and I wanted to share my experience. Unfortunately, my stay had several challenges that impacted my overall satisfaction. Since there were no available double bed rooms on the non-smoking floor, I was assigned to a smoking room on 9/F. As a non-smoker, I expected a slight cigarette smell, but the odor in the room was quite heavy. I informed housekeeping to spray air freshener while I was out for dinner, but the smell persisted, and even after checking out, I could still smell it on my clothes. Additionally, the room itself felt outdated, reminiscent of the 1980s, and it is in urgent need of upgrades and maintenance. The decor and furnishings could definitely benefit from a refresh to enhance the guest experience. Another downside was the Wi-Fi connectivity. The signal in my room was poor, making it impossible to download games to my Switch. I found myself having to stand in the corridor just to complete the download, which was quite inconvenient. On a positive note, the staff were polite and attentive, which made a difference in my stay. I also appreciated the spaciousness of the room, which provided some comfort despite the other issues. In summary, while the Harbour Plaza North Point Hotel has potential with its friendly staff and spacious accommodations, significant improvements are needed in terms of room conditions, maintenance, and amenities.

This is where we celebrated our 3rd year anniversary. Dorsett hotel in HK is one of a kind! OVERALL THIS PLACE IS SO GOOOOOOD! 1) UNLIMITED CLEAN DRINKING WATER - I really love their thoughtfulness and their Go Green project where they offer free water refills. We are tourists and It's my 5th time to visit HK. This is the 1st time I've been to a hotel that offers unlimited free water refill so you do not need to purchase bottles everytime. 2) MTR IS KINDA FAR BUT THERE ARE NEARBY BUS STOPS - This only works off hours. The hotel is about 10-15min walk to the nearest MTR. Then the nearest bus stop is 5mins away. But this is not a problem if you are to leave within 8am to 7pm cause they have free shuttle. 3) THE ROOM IS HUGE! Way better than the photos! See photos I attached. There's only two of us but I guess this would fit our entire family 4) PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY - we got there at around 8am and our check in is 2pm. they let us leave our luggage so we can go around while waiting for the check in time
Best Western Hotel Causeway Bay

In fact I was quite disappointed for the experience of this stay over .  1) when I made the booking . It’s says it’s only allows stay up to 1 person . And this is recommended by my friend and she was going with her friends last time . Moreover, I saw the stay experience by another family from YouTube . So I am sure that this room is not limited to one person . Anyhow , approve is given by your CS colleage and the hotel that I’m ok to stay with my another friend ( total 2 of us ) and since the price is with breakfast included . Nevertheless, we were informed that we need to pay extra for the 2nd breakfast. Fine ~ it’s not expensive, I pay .  2) after I get into the room and discover it was not same as what your website shows to me ! It show 2 sides glasses wall at the balcony and mine is only got 1 side ; and why I booked this room is just because of this 2 sides glasses wall and why ???? We were given something different without noticed ?  3) the room is extremely small with no essential equipments , such as cold refrigerator, USB charging ports , cabinet for stowage of our luggage and belongings, we have to place our bags and clothing on the ground !!! Why ?  4) the shower / toilet is divided by a glasses wall only ; we were just friends and not couple or family members….. it’s too embarrassing during we using the toilet bowl n showering ….  5) the room is not totally cleaned before offer us ; the floor is still with ashes and litter ; tub is still have long hair and many black dots …. Which I need to clean up by myself before i feel safe to put my body in .  Because I don’t want to ruin the mood of celebrating my birthday, and that’s why I didn’t go down to reception and ask for follow ups.
