The Residence Hotel

Chiang Mai Airport
I recently stayed at The Residence Hotel in Chiang Mai, and it was a pleasant experience overall, especially for a three-star establishment. Here's a breakdown of my thoughts: The hotel is conveniently located near some of Chiang Mai's main attractions, including the Night Bazaar and the Old City. It’s tucked away in a quieter part of town, which makes it ideal for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle while still being close to the action. Local shops and restaurants are within walking distance, which adds to its charm. The rooms are clean and functional, though slightly outdated. The bed was comfortable, and the amenities provided were adequate—air conditioning, a mini-fridge, and complimentary bottled water. However, the décor could use a modern touch, and the bathroom, while clean, showed signs of wear. The Wi-Fi was reliable only in the room, which was a little uncomfortable to use lobby area to work or search the internet. some staffs were not friendly due to the languages, most language uses are Thai. While the service wasn’t luxurious, it was warm and genuine, which added to the overall experience. There’s also a simple breakfast available, which, while not extensive, featured fresh fruits, toast, and a few local dishes. For the price, The Residence Hotel provides excellent value. It’s not a luxury stay, but it offers everything a traveler might need for a comfortable visit to Chiang Mai. The combination of its location, affordability, and lack friendly service makes it a solid choice for budget-conscious travelers. The Residence Hotel is a good option if you’re looking for a budget-friendly and well-located place to stay in Chiang Mai. While it may not have the frills of higher-end accommodations, its clean rooms, lack of welcoming staff, and convenience make it worth considering for your next trip. Would recommend for solo travelers and couples looking for a simple yet comfortable base to explore Chiang Mai!

The owner was very kind. I am Japanese and I don't know English or Thai, but they were kind and responded. Access from the city is a bit far.

Nice and clean little hotel in town. Easy for commute to many places. Friendly staff and restful tiny garden in the open-air area. Safety for stay, key-card system is available. Got the right kind of room that I requested for. Soft bed, blanket and clean towels. Need a little bit improve of free-drinking water. Totally like this location near small market and 7/11.

Mon Lom Nao Homestay
4.6/587 Reviews
A place far far away from town and also Mon Jam. I was planning to stay 1 night in Mon Jam actually, however I didn’t noticed the homestay is another mountain from Mon Jam (called Pong Yaeng) which was Trip.com suggested to me when I search for hotels of Mon Jam. I booked it for family trip, we called the Grab to send us to there so that we can check in and drop the bags first. I must to say, the way to get to the homestay was quite thrilling cause the last section of the way were rugged mountain road, luckily the driver was expertly to send us there safely. After we settled down and want to go out to Mon Jam for sightseeing, there were no car to pick us up through Grab cause we were too far away from town. Although the host had help us to ask for the ride, there was no reply too. Even if yes, it cost around 400-500 THB which was very expensive tho. So we were stuck in the homestay to having the peace and silence. Luckily we can still order food from the host when we feeling hungry, having the meal with the mountain view and BBQ+hotpot for dinner were also some good experiences here. Actually the place was quite good and the host was very nice, I’m sure there would be a good place to stay if you are not concerned about the location and looking for some peaceful stay. But I would strongly recommend you to rent a car, motorbike or even a driver, just in case you want to go somewhere else for sightseeing. Or you can go to play or sightseeing before going to the homestay, it’s all up to you😉
Comfy Corner Hotel

Chiang Mai Ancient City
I stayed at Comfy Corner Hotel for four days and really liked it. The location is great—close to cafes, markets, and key spots in Chiang Mai. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the air conditioning worked well. A nice bonus was the air humidifier in the room, which made the air much more comfortable. The Wi-Fi was fast, which was a big plus. The staff was friendly and helpful, always ready to assist. I also loved that there was a coffee machine at the reception where you could grab a cup anytime. Despite being in the city, the hotel was quiet, so I got good rest. Overall, a great place to stay—comfortable, affordable, and well-located. I’d definitely come back!

Nimmanhaemin Road Area
I recently stayed at October Hostel located in the vibrant Nimman area of Chiang Mai, and I must say, my experience was exceptional! Location: The hostel's location is perfect for anyone looking to explore Chiang Mai. Nestled in the bustling Nimman neighborhood, it offers easy access to the city center and is just a short drive from the airport, making it incredibly convenient for travelers. Host and Service: Mark, the hostel owner, was incredibly hospitable. From the moment I arrived, he made me feel welcome and was eager to share his knowledge of the city. His insights and tips on where to go and what to do in Chiang Mai greatly enhanced my experience. Accommodations: The rooms at October Hostel are clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. While I stayed in a standard room this time, I was tempted by the option to upgrade to a much larger room. Given the quality of my stay, I am definitely considering this upgrade on my next visit! Overall Experience: I highly recommend October Hostel to anyone visiting Chiang Mai. Whether you’re a solo traveler or coming with friends, the combination of a great location, warm hospitality, and excellent facilities make this hostel a top choice. Tip for Future Guests: Don’t hesitate to ask Mark for local recommendations – he truly knows the best spots in town! Looking forward to my next stay at October Hostel, and I can’t wait to try out the larger room!

Sabaidee Chiangmai Hotel

Chiang Mai Ancient City
The Sabaidee was in the perfect location… everything was within walking distance or a short tuktuk ride. The overnight front desk girl was fantastic… she helped make phone calls for us, arranged for a toilet repair, and allowed us access to the employee bathrooms when the toilet repair took longer than expected (not the hotel’s fault when it busts at night and no repair places are open). None of the cons listed below are deal-breakers, and we would absolutely stay here again next time we come to Chiang Mai. 😁 Pros: - fantastic location (Northern part of Old City) - fantastic staff - daily breakfast buffet - gorgeous outdoor space - tons of amazing restaurants nearby - Super safe area - free wifi - 24-hour front desk Cons: - buildings in the area are close together so our room didn’t get much natural light - the overhead lights in the room were aggressively bright, so I had to MacGyver a bed canopy so that I could lay in bed without triggering a migraine - breakfast buffet is not veggie-friendly… every hot option had meat in it, and everything had eggs - each person gets a separate wifi login that can only be used on one device at a time… so you can’t multitask (ex: laptop and phone) - beds are typical Asian beds: very firm, and no “pillow top”… it wasn’t uncomfortable though and we slept well.
