Below the high-rise office buildings, the ANZ building and the Sofitel hotel, is a small selection of fairly pleasant cafes and some modestly upmarket shops. There is also a top-notch Japanese restaurant, Kenzan, if you need toilet facilities in both places, and a basement floor. The atrium has an interesting open roof design.
Collins Square (Collins Place) is currently undergoing renovations and looks a bit messy, but it may be because the twin-tower multi-function complex is its first type, and was the largest in Melbourne when it was completed in 1981. It includes 15 floors of underground parking, cinema, office space, bank, shopping plaza and hotel space. The building is at a 45-degree angle with normal grids, with an interesting atrium in the middle with a transparent plastic roof, which is the main feature of the hotel building. It has clean toilets on the ground floor and in the basement.
