Jiantang Town is the seat of Shangri-La County, Yunnan Province. It is 3,300 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by mountains and the terrain is flat in the middle. It is divided into two parts: the ancient city Dukezong (the central town) and the new city. The history of Jiantang Town Established in 1996, it was formed by the merger of the former Central Town and Dazhongdian Township. Jiantang Town is located in Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan at an altitude of 3,300 meters. It is a heavy town on the Tibetan line and an important station on the ancient tea-horse road.
