In the middle of the 13th century, the castle was the seat of Baron Jagabus Cesene, the sword-bearer of King Béla IV. In the late 13th-14th centuries, the castle became the residence of Matthew III Csák. The well is associated with the legend of the Turkish prince Omar and his love for the beautiful Fatima, for whom he dug a well in the rock.”
