Zigong Library is a municipal public library open to the public and the society. It is responsible for providing knowledge and information services for the economic construction and scientific research in Zigong area and for social education services for the masses to improve the quality of science and culture. The museum was founded in May 1959, when there were only a few thousand books, three staff, the building area of more than 140 square meters. With the care of the party and the government, the museum has made great progress in all aspects of the building over the years. Now there are more than 220,000 books in the collection, 29 staff (14 of which have intermediate titles or more), the new museum has an area of more than 6,100 square meters, located in the bustling area of the east section of Huidong Road, Huidong Development Zone. Since the opening of the museum in September 1996, more than 600,000 readers have been received. The museum has: the Ministry of Collection, Multimedia Electronic Information Center, the Ministry of Book Reference and Circulation, the Ministry of Journals, the Ministry of Children's Work and the Office. The collection of books in the museum is mainly social science books, comprehensive books and popular books. The focus is on local literature in Zigong. The collection of more than 30,000 copies of ancient books has a national-level good book of 1244 volumes, and the "Renmin University of China's Press and Journal Copying Materials" has been collected for nearly 20 years, forming the characteristics of the museum's large-scale social science secondary literature collection. In terms of literature types, the collection of electronic literature is increasing on the basis of traditional paper literature. The museum mainly carries out library materials loan, reading, consulting and digital information and digital literature based on the Internet. There are 8 service windows in the museum and more than 10 service windows outside the museum.
