正德十三年（1518年）明武宗幸游榆林曾驻华此楼改名为太乙神宫。正德十六年（1521年），巡抚姚镆改为凯歌楼。此楼为榆林诸楼之冠。楼台高八公尺，台下有由南到北的劵洞。楼上建有二层木质大楼，四角各有钟鼓楼楼各一。
