There will be people at the high-speed train exit shouting '15 yuan to Yuntai Mountain' (Don't believe it!!!) The bus is already very convenient. There are special shuttle buses in the scenic area, and you can choose to get off at each attraction. My travel route🚶'Red Stone Gorge——Artificial Lake——Cornelian Cherry Peak——Phoenix Ridge ✅Red Stone Gorge 1.5—2h Don't turn back, just walk all the way to the end. After reaching the end and going up, you will find the Artificial Lake. The scenery of Red Stone Gorge is pleasant, with red stones shining under the sunlight. There are also stalactites, canyons, waterfalls, etc. It's really worth seeing😎 ✅Artificial Lake 30min The lake water is as green as a gem, and there is a boat tour available. The snacks in the scenic area are really cheap and leave a good impression. ✅Cornelian Cherry Peak and Phoenix Ridge 3.5--4h You can climb Cornelian Cherry Peak or take the cable car, while Phoenix Ridge is only accessible by cable car. If you want to experience climbing, you can climb Cornelian Cherry Peak (the steps are quite steep and can be tiring), and after reaching the top, you can walk to Phoenix Ridge from another path, then take the cable car down from Phoenix Ridge. Alternatively, you can take the cable car up from Phoenix Ridge and walk down from Cornelian Cherry Peak. This season, only a few flowers have bloomed, and the trees have not yet sprouted. The water flow is also not very abundant, so it's recommended to visit in summer. ⚠️To enter the scenic area, you need to go through a turnstile and scan your ID card, so remember to prepare your ID card🆔 You need to scan your ID card at each attraction. 💡There are sightseeing buses within the scenic area, and you need to take a shuttle bus to switch between different attractions. For the May Day holiday, I chose an unusual route—a one-day tour of Yuntai Mountain. Yes, you heard it right, one day to challenge the limits of my 'iron legs' and cover all the scenic spots in one fell swoop! 👧👶 About ticket prices: The full adult ticket is 120 yuan + 60 yuan for the scenic area transportation fee, and the ticket allows you to play for 3 consecutive days, with free entry and exit to the scenic area. Students can get half-price tickets with their ID card and student ID, children under 1.4m have free admission, and children under 1.2m also have free cable car rides. Importantly, you can enter the park without an ID card! 🔴 One-day itinerary: Arrive at the ticket office before 8:00, head towards Hongshi Gorge for sightseeing, depart for Xiaozhaigou at 9:30, reach Quanpu Gorge and Tian Waterfall by 10:00, return to the food city for a rest at 12:00, set off for Monkey Valley at 13:00, take the bus to Zhuyu Peak and walk along Fenghuang Ridge at 15:00, and around 18:40 take the bus back to the entrance at Baijiayan station. Pay attention to sun protection, as it's easy to get tanned when going up the mountain. If you like to experience additional activities, this itinerary may not be suitable for you, as I went purely to enjoy the scenery and didn't want to queue. The Jiaozuo-Yuntai Mountain tourism bus line 3 operates until 18:10 at the latest and is free during the May Day period. If you are late, it is recommended to have a car or take a taxi. 🌞 The scenery is great, and after the trip, we had a small barbecue, ending a full day's journey. If you have, it’s likely for the Shaolin Temple or Longmen grottoes (check out my other posts for a review on those cultural highlights) but it’s not often that YunTai mountain is talked about as a must-go place. Situated in the north of the province, YunTai mountain not only hosts beautiful waterfalls, monkey trails and mountain top temples, but also the Red Rock Gorge. This really took my breath away with miles of stairs up and down the crevice with the characteristic… you’ve guessed it! Red rocks! The whole scenic area is easily accessible via tourist bus, cable car and boat!

Red Stone Gorge is the signature attraction of Yuntai Mountain, a geological relic formed by the crustal movement during the Sinian period 1.4 billion years ago, making it a 'miniature landscape world, an enlarged artistic bonsai' named for the deposited red quartz sandstone. Red Stone Gorge is located 68 meters underground, combining beauty, serenity, grandeur, and danger in one, with springs, waterfalls, streams, and pools in one valley. The cliffs on both sides are exquisitely beautiful, as if carved by the supernatural work of ghosts and gods. Zhuyu Peak is the main peak of Yuntai Mountain, also known as 'Little North Top'. In ancient times, it was as famous as the Golden Summit of Wudang Mountain in Hubei. It was the holy land for literati, monks, and Taoists to practice. Only by climbing Zhuyu Peak can you feel the artistic conception of Wang Wei's widely cherished poem 'Thinking of My Brothers on the Ninth Day of the Ninth Month', 'From afar I know my brothers have climbed to high places, all but one wearing cornel sprays.' Xiaozhaigou includes three attractions: Quanpu Gorge, Tanpu Gorge, and Macaque Valley. Quanpu Gorge's Yuntai Skyfall is one of the iconic landscapes of Yuntai Mountain, known as the highest waterfall in China, with a drop of 314 meters, the largest in China and even Asia. Tanpu Gorge, with a spring every three steps, a waterfall every five steps, and a pool every ten steps, is an unmissable attraction of Yuntai Mountain. Among them, Lover's Waterfall, Golden Dragon Lying on the Waves, Y-shaped Waterfall, Everlasting Spring, and Water Curtain Waterfall are all classic stopping points. Macaque Valley is the habitat of Taihang macaques, where you can interact with macaques at close range, which is very interesting and ornamental. Zifang Lake, also known as 'Ping Lake', is named after Zhang Liang (styled Zifang) of the Han dynasty, who once stood on the peak on the west side of the valley, training troops day and night to help Liu Bang achieve great success and then retired here. The secluded Wanshan Temple in the mountains is an ancient temple with a long history, built during the Wanli era of the Ming dynasty. It was built by Zhu Yuanzhang to repay the kindness of Master Wuxia for saving his life. The temple name was bestowed by Emperor Shenzong of Ming and was once a royal temple, one of the largest temples in the Central Plains at the time. Baijiayan is the birthplace of the transition of Chinese landscape garden culture from the court to the common people. Emperor Xian of Han, Liu Xie, once took refuge here to escape the summer heat. During the Wei and Jin dynasties, the seven sages known as the 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove' lived in seclusion in the bamboo forest of Baijiayan for more than twenty years.
