The Great Jingtang is a Tibetan-style flat-top building with civil structure, the largest in the Ta'er Temple building, with a construction area of nearly 2,000 square meters, and a large Jingtang with 168 large pillars, first built in the Ming Dynasty in the Wanli 34 years, that is, 1606 AD. It is the place where the monastery lamas concentrate on chanting. The artwork seen at the door is called "stack embroidery". It is one of the three best art of Ta'er Temple. It is first put on a layer of plum blossoms or wool before embroidery for three-dimensional effect. Stack embroidery includes embroidery and shearing piles. Its content is mostly derived from Buddhist stories and religious life, making fine, chic patterns, vivid images, and wonderful, is the original traditional art of Ta'er Temple, is a masterpiece of monk art, praised by the art festival. These two "Eight Immortals" embroidery are the treasures of Ta'er Temple. Although it is made by monks, it is very popular to make embroidery. Now few people in the temple can make it, which shows the preciousness of these treasures. There is a Buddhist group mat in the hall, which can be used by more than 1,000 lamas to chante.

大经堂,在西宁塔尔寺内,殿内供奉了多座佛像、佛经、佛塔等文物。还有精美绝伦的壁画、堆秀、唐卡。这里也是塔尔寺内规模最大的经堂,全寺僧众都在这里集体颂经和举行重大佛事的场地。建筑都是藏式的土木结构,平顶。建筑都有很多假的窗户,这些也称作“盲窗”。盲窗就是从房子外面看很象窗户,但又打不开,里面看不见外边。
大经堂现在也是在使用的,宽敞明亮的厅堂让人感觉心情也开阔很多。
