The Queen Emma Pontoon is the most famous landmark in Curacao. Every day, the cruise ship enters or leaves the port. The pontoon will be opened. It is very spectacular. The pontoon itself is a work of combining craftsmanship, technology and aesthetics, plus the brightness under daylight during the day, and the charming after lighting at night.
During the day, many tourists on cruise ships landed, so it was difficult to shoot the empty scene of the pontoon bridge. The next day, while the sky was light, they came out to shoot the empty scene. It happened to meet the pontoon bridge. The cruise ship entered the port. The scene was very spectacular, with the city color shown on both sides of the Straits. The scenery was quite beautiful.
The port of Williamstad, the capital of the island of Curacao in the southern Caribbean, was a fine trading harbor built by the Dutch in the 17th century. On one side is the Otrobanda (built in 1707) and on the other side is the Punda (built in 1634). The two districts are separated by Santa Ana Bay and connected by the Emma Queen Floating Bridge, built in 1888.
The bridge named after the Queen is tall, huh?
It’s a fantastic structure in the middle of the Willemstad, a city with the title of UNESCO heritage site. it is most beautiful in the evening. The bridge is movable when there is a ship pass along the harbour into the river.
