Murouji

At the end of the 8th century, in order to pray for the early recovery of the prince at that time, monk Xianjing and his apprentice, monk Xiuyuan, built Muroji Temple. The temple enshrines Bodhisattvas such as Sakyamuni Buddha, Eleven-faced Avalokitesvara and Medicine Buddha. Muro Temple is located on the mountainside of Muro River, with beautiful scenery. Every spring and autumn, people come here to enjoy cherry blossoms and maple. There is a smaller five-story pagoda in Japan, about 16 meters high, which is a well-known building in Japan. Unfortunately, what you see now is not its original appearance. The typhoon in 1998 destroyed part of the structure of the pagoda. The current five-story pagoda is what it looked like after it was repaired in 2000. Muroji is very special, especially because it has an alias of "Woman Takano". Muroji is a kind of Shingon sect of Tantric Buddhism, which allows women to visit. However, Kongobuji Temple in Koyasan, founded by Master Kukai, belongs to the same sect, but women are not allowed to enter. Therefore, contrary to the nature of Koyasan, Muroji has become "Woman Koya" Muroji.
